Has anyone purchased Harry Lorayne's currently available "Deluxe Memory Power Package, at $149.95 US"?
This course is now available on CD and it also comes with a companion video tape of the Master himself, along with a bonus gift entitled "Memory Makes Millionaires". I would appreciate reviews of this package for someone that is just beginning to build up their memory demonstrations. I already have several of Mr. Lorayne's wonderful books on memory (ie. Memory makes money). But I wonder if the Deluxe Memory Power Package will add greater depth to my understanding of this field. My guess is that it will, but I still would appreciated some comments, insight and feedback from those that have purchased this system for themselves. A description of this particular package can be found on Harry Lorayne's site at: http://www.harrylorayne.com/products/memoryPower.html Many thanks. Jonathan

I bought his "The Memory Book" book and have loved it ever since. If the cd set is anywhere as good as the book it would be a good deal (Look around for the book on ebay, I snatched it for $4.95. Probably one of the best buys I have ever made.)
Thanks! Scott B.

I love Harry's work in the memory field (and have used it for years; I have several of his memory books, the CD/video course, and even the old "Harry Lorayne's Memory Game" board game), but if you've read the books and learned what's in them, I'm dubious that the CD set will add a great deal to your understanding of the work.
If you've read more than one of his books on the topic, you'll notice that he tends to cover the same material in each book, with different teaching approaches and/or slightly different applications. This goes for the videos and CD set as well; I think you'll find that it is mostly just another manner of presenting the same material (and in a less efficient way; think of how many CDs you'd need to just READ the contents of "The Memory Book" in an unabridged audio version). Some people learn better aurally or visually, and, for them, the videos and/or CDs are perhaps a better way to learn the material. You may even find it's a better way for YOU to learn, or practice, the material, if you haven't really absorbed it from the books. But if you're looking for brand-new wrinkles on the system, or new uses for it, I think his books cover pretty much all the concepts and applications. If you'd really like to expand your knowledge of memory systems, and learn a potentially more powerful system (faster, but definitely tougher to learn), you might try to find a copy of Dominic O'Brien's "How to Develop a Perfect Memory." O'Brien has quite a few other books on memory out, but I don't know if they teach his system in-depth the way that this one does. Unfortunately, it's out of print and usually commands extremely high prices...I see there's one copy (hardcover) available on Bookfinder, and it's going for over $300. I have a couple copies of the paperback; if I hang onto them long enough, maybe I can send my kid to college with them. --Josh BTW, I agree with Scott; "The Memory Book" is definitely one of the best of ALL Harry's memory books, with a huge number of applications. It can be found for next to nothing on bookfinder.com, half.com, or in the used section of Amazon. --Josh |

OK, I just wanted to be faster than Chris Wasshuber here.
For those who don't know it, Chris (a café member) owns the website www.lybrary.com and on his site you can buy Dominic O'Brien's "How to Develop a Perfect Memory" as an ebook for $39.90. And I agree with Josh, this book expands Harry Lorayne's approach. Sincerely, Matt P.S. Scott Cram has listed here a few websites, where Lorayne's and O'Brien's methods are quite well explained. I'm just too lazy at the moment to find the post.

Great comments. Very helpful.
Does Lorayne's The Memory Book differ much from his book, Memory Makes Money? Jonathan

"Memory Makes Money" is one of the Lorayne memory books I *don't* have, so I can't compare them. :-/ I have quite a few others (including the Page-A-Minute Memory Book, Super Memory - Super Student, How to Develop a Super Power Memory, Remembering People, and Miracle Math).
If it's any help, the chapters in The Memory Book are: Some History of the Art In the First Place: Association The Link Substitute Words Long Words, Appointments and Errands, Shopping Lists Speeches Foreign & English Vocabulary Names and faces Absentmindedness Long-digit Numbers The Peg Style Numbers, Prices, Telephone Numbers Playing Cards Weekly Appointments; Days of the Week Anniversaries, the Zodiac, Historical Dates The Alphabet and Picturing Letters Start Your Children Sports The Stock Market Politics The Arts Music for Beginners Rading The Memory Graph Potpourri Look, I'm a Genius Finally I just looked, and half.com has The Memory Book for $1.25. Even with a few bucks for shipping, you can't possibly go wrong. --Josh |

Couple of years ago I bought "The Memory Book". Didn't get through it - not sure why.
Recently I got an old (oop?) book of Lorayne's - "How to Develop a Super Power Memory". That was the one that got me. Fantastic, easy to read, easy to understand. I can do things now that I never thought possible. Don't know if it was a change in the Lorayne books, or just me. But if I may suggest, I feel that the Big Package *may* be overkill - but keep in mind that I have not seen it. I have listened to one of his 4 cassette tape series and didn't find anything that wasn't well-covered in his book.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
