Toddd Robbins...June Guest of Honor!

Amazing! Astounding! Alive!

You will not believe your eyes when you see his posts!

And they won't even have to look in the "Believe It Or Not" section to read them, either!

Very cool, Todd. Thanks, congratulations, and I'm looking forward to the first week in June.

Thanks Chris. I'm looking forward to all the posts asking how to eat glass! Seriously, I am honored to be doing this. I just wish I had something to sell! Actually, I might have a VERY big announcement to make at that time, if this project I'm working on moves from being ether to something a bit more concrete. It could be the biggest thing to happen to the world of the sideshow in a long time. Well, the biggest thing since Ward Hall came out of retirement.

Will that require us all to address Todd in future as "Sir Todd" or "Dame Todd" or "Pope Todd" or what???

Sorry forgot "King Todd".....

He's the guy that's going to play the title role in the Slim Price story when they make it into an epic miniseries for NBC.

And you do know that NBC is short for "Nothing But Carny"!

Funny thing, I think I was on the bally where you appear about 55 years ago. (or maybe across to street)
I'd be honored to have you star in my "EPIC"

Rosen's was in our building (boardwalk side of Surf Ave. at 12th) for a while. That was after he left the old Boston Theatre building on the subway side of Surf Ave.at 12th St. The Bluebird Casino was also in our building at one time. All that is changing as major developers have bought up huge chunks of Coney Island with the intent of building a shopping mall smack dab in the middle of the amusement district. There all sorts of wheeling and dealing going on. More later.

Todd who? I think we were several doors down the street, then. Same side but closer to the Cyclone. Right across from the big Jenny...

That was Sindell's show, right? Right across from the B & B Carousel. That's the Jenny you are talking about. Was Frank Lentini working in the show at that time?

It was indeed Fred Sindell's show. We had a great many "Human Anomalies" (Can't say freak anymore)including Lentini (who taught me much) Dewise Purdun Bobby Reynold's did magic and the box Alzoria,(Turtle) Joanna, (Bear) Jemima, Princess Margie and a lot more all at the same time.Ajax was with Rosen... About the only feature act not with our show was Betty Lou Williams. On the road, Lentini did not come, I did a little bad swords and fire. Alex Linton did the real stuff (years ahead of other acts)Alzoria, and Joanna were features, Sylvia Porter and Grace McDanials, Bill Killingsworth and Bobby. For a while Albert-Alberta or Don Delores were the Blow-off

Oddly enough my daughter is about your age. (And your "Wicked" Step mother would be younger than you..) You could be my kid, but 10 grandkids and 11 Greatgrand kids would get in the way...

I have a lovely recording from the 1950s of an outside talker doing an opening for Sindell's show. I think it's Justin Wagner, but I'm not sure. I will drag it out to CA on of these days and let you hear it. It must be from around 1955 because the talker is pitching the show and the midnight Rock & Roll revue. It sounds like it was a late night girl show. The movie Coney Island USA from 1954 would also bring back memories for you.

Justin was a great talker... Skinny as a rail and very neat, while he was doing the Bally he would never look at the tip, always above their heads... Once in a while he would break into dance. Just a few steps, but very impresive.
Slim

The other talker was Milt Levine... He'd get drunk and put the make(?) on the ticket taker, Edith, and she would make a fool of him... A person I left out of the line-up was Bob Melvin, before he retired to open a general store out west somewhere...

I DO remeber THAT show and that line-up Slim. And Albert(a) was there in Coney one of the times I went. MY Mom would wait outside for me through the WHOLE thing
(it was a long show too!). I remember buying little Bibles from Turtle and Bear girls and I went for the cigarette lighter (Matchbook in a bag) so I could pull it on my father. Admission was a mere twenty five cents. I got to slap on Francesco's 3rd leg even...hahaha. It was the most important show of my life (The first time especially) and I have every moment, musty smell of the room and every shadow in my memory for instant recall. There was also the Mule Face Boy (Huge protruding teeth)...I remember seeing him on the street between shows with a bag over his head...maybe two bags in case one broke.
