The changes I'v done are just small helping tools to make it work better for ME,
when I invest in new tricks/routines I want them to work so they fit in my performance settings, and I will often have to incorporate small changes to the gimmicks. I rarely get them to work "right out of the box", (except for a deck of cards of cause) The E2 as we all know is very complex, and require/deserves some serious practice, but I know for a fact it works, again this Saturday I did a small performance and after the levitation a guy walks up to me and told me he knows about the balducci, but he was now blown away when he saw me perform this lev. standing right infront of him. Moments like this makes all the hard work worth it... -e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

Any word from other Beta-Testers out there? Kinesis? Chance Wolf? Corey King?
Seems like once the E2 came out every one keeps quiet. (The're probably all home practicing)...? Jack.

Hey Jack, Nice to see you. I'm here (even if my thread isn't..LOL) Just waiting for things to settle. Believe it or not I'm beta testing something else at the moment (not a lev) so am a wee bit busy. I've PM'ed you to bring you up-to-date.

I got it today. I also had a chance to look at the first Elevator.
E2 is definately a lot easier to balance on when compared to E1 (I'm calling it E1 because I don't want to type out the whole thing). It is also more compact. I can see this is going to take a lot of working with to get just right....Hmmmmm. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Well, I think that the original Elevator is more fun to balance on, because you can spin, and you can do it barefoot. (You COULD do E2 barefoot, but you'd have to be one of those people who walks on glass, it's not a comfortable thing).
E1 is simpler, which is also a plus, however, E2 is WAY more compact and it does actually allow for people to look under your feet, but you have to know how to play with the shadows just right. At first I thought that it was totally visible but then with a little movement with the feet I realized that it does create the illusion that there's nothing there, but it's not easy to do. I also feel that the E2 might have some difficulties in certain places because of the way it's made. E1 seems like it would get less damaged if you did it outside on pavement. It's really hard to tell. I honestly like both of them for different reasons, and I don't think one is better than the other, I think they have different purposes. As for the 200 dollars part.....well, it's hard to say. The construction is very solid and it would be about 1000x harder to make your own E2 than it would be to make your own E1. (Not that you'd make your own of either). Everything on the E2 has been custom fabricated however, and it's "springloaded" which is pretty cool, because let's face it, anything springloaded is cool. |

Upon further reading, (of the wonderful instruction book provided with the E2) I have decided that all this talk about the E2 not being practical is hogwash.
There are SO many different ways to create necassary misdirection for the non-bending down method of the E2. In the book one idea suggested is to do a card trick before hand. I belive that Dan Harlan's HOVERCARD would be PERFECT here! People are always blown away by that trick so they wouldn't be expecting you to be setting up anything else. Also, you could say, "Here, let me show you another example" and then proceed to levitate. I quite frankly am terribly excited to start playing around with this more. I'm also glad it's 200 dollars. That means a few things: Fewer people will have it. The old "no show to the picnic means more food for me" It's less likely to be exposed. I'm not about to expose to the world something I just spent 200 bucks on! |

Great review Jordini! Pretty much sums up my thoughts about E2. Although I have to admit that I'm still a lot more comfortable with E1. I'm sure I could graduate fully to the E2 with enough practice, but I'm finding it hard to put in that much time when E1 and other levs are still working great for me. Yeah... I'm a little lazy

I can understand how you feel, especially because E1 is comfortable. I'd say if you can overlook the bulkiness of the E1, the slightly more difficult balancing issues, the bending down setup, and the fact that it's visible from far away, the E1 is better because of the material it's made out of, and the fact that you can do a mid air rotation. I like the fact that it's simple. The E2 has a lot of moving parts, but I think I like the design a bit more anyway. (Besides, I think it will look absolutely awesome once I get it all figured out). And the E2 is a little bit taller. It's really hard to tell between the two as far as which is "better", especially since I can't use either one yet. It really is a matter of taste and ability. I really like some of the ideas presented in the booklet however and I can't wait to try them all out.
Also, I came up with an amusing little routine if anyone wants to perform this for magicians. They will most likely be wise to the Elevator (since so many magicians have it). You can talk about a great new ITR you picked up (especially if your at a convention, you can mention that it was this little booth over in the corner) and you can reach under your lapel or collar (wherever you normally keep your ITR). Then you pull out a small ball of wax which you show to the magician. (This is just wax, there's really no string attached). Ask if they can see the IT. They will say "no" because really there is no thread (IT'S JUST WAX) Then you stick it to your shoe (this covers the bending down part if that's the route you're taking) and then proceed to do the levitation, as if your ITR (which is under your lapel) is holding you up...which doesn't make any sense even if you have the strongest IT in the world, which is why it's wonderful. |

That's awesome, Jordini! Once I get the E2 down, I'll try the ITR presentation. I'm still working on the no-bend down method, and I've almost got it down.

I have it down I guess what bothers me is the noise issue. Is anyone else having that metal on metal rattling problem?

I'm having a little of that problem, because when it opens it doens't lock, it's a loose design, and the pins or some other part does make a little bit of a rattle.

Eirik sent me his modifications and I think I'm going to try those. (One of the pins bent!)
I was playing with it last night trying to unbend the nail and I'm not sure what I did, but somehow it got stuck, so that everything moved very tightly and made really no noise at all (which was great) but then it got unstuck. Over the next couple of weeks I intend to start modifying it and trying to make everything work better. |
