Hello everyone. This is my first post to the Magic Café. I have a question regarding impression pads. I've read a lot about these devices. I would like to construct one using an ordinary Mead brand memo pad (as I like to have my props look as natural as possible). The wax idea I came across in Tarbell volume 4 or 5 (I only own these two volumes thus far) sounds very interesting. The only problem is that I don't want to carry "finger print developer" with me. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can find directions on creating such a pad (possibly other volumes in the Tarbell series)? Or, if you have your own favorite method and would like to share, please feel free. I would like the pad to be semi-examinable, which is why I like the wax idea. Thanks everyone.

Won't necessarily be the version you're asking for, but I'd go with the Imp Pad. Check out Osterlind's Mind Mysteries series, volume 4 (I think).

Don't trust them, impression pads are crap. I haven't seen one yet that works as it's advertised to.
There are other ways of collecting information. ~Rick~

Wow, so how do you really feel?
I'm sure Rick is referring to billet peeks and tears. I havnt had too much success with any impression pad yet, but then again its just me. peeks are fast, then look natural, and every one I do I can hand the billet back and afterward be examined (if someone is that sceptical) |

I wonder how entertaining his performances where he only reads billets are, but if he can make that work for him, - fine! However, I also tend to wonder how much more of mentalism he actually know about, and how much he performs, - in the real world. With all due respect for his certain knowledge about billets, that doesn't entitle him to show such a disrespect for anything else. I wouldn't believe that I ever would say such a thing about a fellow member of the Café's posts, but I find many of them very little serious, and just that, - crap. Sven

I don't know if Shrink still sells his pads, but if he has any left, run, don't walk to get some. While different than the system you seek, it is unique and highly deceptive in its own right.
I've used about every impression device out there and next to the Hornet, Brian's "Invisible Assistant (forgive me if I have the name wrong. I'm short on time and can't check right now)is one of the best. I'd go so far as to say that it is good as the Hornet (not praise I easily give as until IA, the Hornet was hands down my favorite) but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. And, of course, you asked about pads so this fits better. I could go on with superlatives, but instead, I'll direct you right to Brian or to do a search on Invisible Assistant if that is indeed the name. Have fun! Bill |

I second Rick (ricksmagic) and Bill on their suggestions on the Imp Pad and The Brown Hornet.
I use both , have done so for a pretty long time, - and believe me, they work with great results each and every time. Sven

Thank you everyone. You've all been very helpful. If anyone else has a suggestion, fire away. Is there anything mentioned in Tarbell, 13 Steps, or any other book on mentalism?
