Hi all,

Is Flash Burst suitable for table hopping?

Where can the activation switch be placed?

thanks

Hi Georg(io),
Sure is.
The activation switch is supposed to go on the sole of your foot, not just in your shoe.
If you're doing a lot of walking, it's probably a good idea to follow the directions verbatim, where they suggest taping the switch to your bare foot with a band-aid (plaster for the brits), then putting your socks and shoes on, so it doesn't slide off too much and become difficult to control. The wire of course, goes up and out your sock, up inside the pant leg, out the waist to the controller box strapped around your waist, which also has a "safety" switch.
It's purely an electronic effect, using a flash strobe.
At first, I thought it was a little bit overkill with the band-aid thing, but it makes sense - if the switch slides around in your shoe, it can automatically trigger when you don't want it to, or not trigger when you do want it to.
The only caveat to it, besides the setup and needing to wear a jacket or something to cover the controller box is the size of the controller box. It could be smaller - I might move the guts into a smaller project box myself, and while I"m at it, install a jack and plug so that the switch can be unplugged from the controller, rather than the hardwired config is has now.

Oh, almost forgot, I'm sure you can use the switch elsewhere if you want, even tuck it in your pocket and squeeze it by hand if you want, or maybe it'd even work in the armpit by squeezing your arm in. It's a nice system, overall.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Hi Mystician,

Thanks very much for your informative reply. I think I will purchase this gimmick and place the switch in my pocket and try that out.

thanks again

I was considering buying this...

How does the effect look, and what reactions have you had using it?

I love things like this that add more visual impact to a standard vanish
or production, do you feel it was worth the money?

Imagine someone flashing a camera flash bulb direclty into your eyes while you are watching/focusing on the exact area where the flash comes from...

That is what it looks like! And if you cant do a little magic while they are temporarily blinded, you had better find another hobby/job...
