Wow... there is so much out there.
Thanks once again, I think I finally figured out my method. It uses a gun but I ASSURE YOU ALL it is absolutely 100% safe and I mean that. I would not say that if I didn't put some serious thought into the safety of myself and especially others. I'm a little short on money at the moment, but as soon as I save up for this I will definately conduct a test run and all of you will receive a method you'll hopefully you'll enjoy. I'm not sure exactly when I'll get around to working on this, so please drop me a pm if you get bored or mildly curious. Best of luck, Peter

Dear Peter, I cant recommend you enough Bob Cassidy's Wadcutter Catch. Included in the manuscript, is also his Roussian Roulette effect. It is one of the best R.R. effects I have ever seen. Also, Borodin has another R.R. in "Sheherazade". Best, Alfredo Good Morning Guys, Can you tell me in what manuscript this routine is written up? Is it called "Wadcutter Catch" of is it part of a bigger work? Thank you for your help. Ola

Borodin's is very goood and it uses only one Gun as far as I can recall, or at least if it doesn't then you could make a few small ajustments and make this the case.
This is the only one gun version I have found. I would agree with Ola, Cassidy's RR routine in Wadcutter is very good, simple and works an absolute treat. I switch between this method and another. (And most nights I remember which method I'm using ) Best, Kennedy

I think there is a problem with Russian Roulette - no audience will ever really believe that the magician would really put himself in such mortal danger. Kind of turns it into a puzzle.
Derren Brown made a good attempt at it off the back of his reputation of being able to read people but everyone I spoke to just assumed the gun and bullets were fixed. The lead up to the event was great but the actual roulette bit was pants IMO. |

Borodin's method uses two guns, but the audience is only aware of one. It is much safer than any others I know of out there. Becker's method is relatively safe, but he had a close call with it once.
Let me point something out about this kind of effect in general. Most people believe that blanks will not hurt you. Nothing could be further from the truth. I know of two people who have been killed by blanks. One was the late Jon-Eric Hexum, a former "daytime drama" star -- now worm food. The other was a minister in Dallas who, for some unknown reason, put the barrel of a revolver into his mouth, pulled the trigger, and blew out the back part of his throat. I used to do cowboy theatre, and we were extremely careful how we aimed our guns when we were doing our fights. If you have a .44 or .45 caliber revolver, get a 4 in 1 or 5 in 1 blank from Dixie Gun Works. Load the blank into the revolver, aim it at a soda can, and watch what happens. It will make a convert out of you, that's a fact! Good luck with this. And please don't shoot yourself.

That has to be some of the worst metal bending I've seen in a long time, also the fact that it's shot in his living room doesn't add at all..
The metal bending is a bad as that Keelin Lazer guy every one was ripping into a few months ago. If you are going to put something up on a site for the public to watch at least try to leave a decent impression.. DT13

Ola,
That effect was sold by Bob Cassidy at his website (www.mastermindreader.com) some time ago. The name is "The Wadcutter Catch". If I recall correctly, it was released in March of this year and was available for purchase again last week (for new members of the site), but it was a 48 hrs. exclusive. If in the near future you can buy it, I’m sure you will be pleased. Best Wishes, Alfredo Ola, The Wadcutter Catch is available again at Bob Cassidy's site. Best, Alfredo

Thank You Alfredo,
I will have a look today. I'm not that interested in these type of effects but the methods intrigue me. And, the thinking behind the presentation of danger/impossibility can often be adapted to other areas. Thank you again for your help Ola

There is a one gun Russian Roulette routine by Neale and Fulves. IMO, it's the best routine of its kind out there but its incredibly rare and difficult to find.

I find the knife approach much scarier then guns. There is something about knives being more primal and less easily 'fake'.
I agree though that Dr Zodiac's TV appearance is not a good starting point since he obviously didn't have much time to build suspense in what must have been barely a minute. And those four grinning idiots didn't help matters! |
