Are there any numismatists out there who happen to know if there's any coins in circulation from any country that is the same size as the UK two pound coin? I'd like to get a c/s coin made with the UK 2 pound and another coin that is preferrably still in circulation. Failing that an out of circulation coin would do the job. I'd put the exact diameter of a two pound coin in this message, but I don't have one to hand. They're slightly smaller than a half dollar. Thinking about it though, no one's going to be familiar with that odd coin anyway, so any old coin could be trimmed down to the right size I guess.

A Mexican Centavo is exactly the same size as a £2 coin!

If that's true then a Canadian Toonie ($2 coin) is also the same. Plus, it's silver with a golden insert so it should contrast well.

I doubt if the change from a two tone coin to another two tone would be very visually obvious!

Well, what colours are on the 2 pound coin?

gold and silver also! I guess I could just turn over an ungaffed £2 coin and say "hey look it's turned into a twoonie! No Really!"
Do you think an expanded 2p coin would look suspect to a casual observer? I mean a 2p coin expanded up to the size of a £2 to make a copper silver. I think the size difference would be a little too much, but it'll work for a 2p and 10p. The size of the £2 is preferrable for manipulation. |

oh, ok. yeah, I guess it wouldn't be very good. (Hey look I have a silver and gold coin. Now it's a SILVER and GOLD coin! WOW!)

Toonie are pretty easy to palm and use though.

I walked into a Bank of America today and asked for some Kennedy half dollars and some silver dollars and they didn't have any and suggested I go to a pawn shop of all places(?) This might be a premature request because I only tried one bank so far, but does anyone have any suggestions for just finding these US coins? Thanks.

I saw an effect at a convention somewhere where an English penny (the current small ones, not the old big half size ones) swapped places with the centre of a two pound coin, but I don't remember where I saw it.
It was a nice visual change, though. |
