Retired my $7 bowler to my "spare setup" and bought a new one.

I know you needed to know.

What kind? My wife bought me a fur felt Bailey for Christmas in preparation for our trip to DK. Pics are on my website if you want to compare.

I recently (last summer) also picked up a nice Bailey. Got mine at a flea market.

They had it on a plaster head, and it even looked good there, I so I aske how much and was delighted to hear the gal say; $5.00. I almost ripped my jeans trying to get my wallet out! So I bought it not even knowing if it would fit.

Well, It fits perfectly! And I love it!

I second what Michael Baker said: we want a photo. Show us the new look.

Where did you get a $7 hat? I had to pay $25 for mine! Was it new?

BroDavid - you got lucky there! I love scouting the flea market ... most of my act comes from either flea markets, wal-mart, or dumpsters.

You got it Joe Joe.

Before I got the hat, I got a second large brown leather doctors bag for just a couple of bucks. I already had one, and knew how handy they are, so that was treat to get a matching one.

If it wasnt for the close-out section of the big name stores, I would never go in there. But I am all over the flea markets, garage sales, and discount junk stores Smile

I got my $7 bowler at one of those party kind of stores. It was beyond cheap.
I got the new one at "The Hat Store". I don't remember the name of the place.
You know the place. Lots of hats. Most of which, you can't even reach.
My new one was waaaaaaay up there, too.

It was $48 reduced from $68.
It's fur felt.
I thought felt was made from wool???

Hey, wait! Wool is fur!!!

Isn't it?

Photo? Somebody was snapping pictures of me the last time I was performing
at the ballpark and also last weekend. Wonder if I can get copies?
I also had a full page article about me in the local paper with some photos of me wearing my old one but I cannot get the paper to send me any. I need to try again.

I'm no hat expert, but I gotta admit, when I started looking for hats I found out there's more stuff about hats than I ever thought possible.

I think a short answer to the Wool/Fur question would be you don't have to skin the sheep.

Fur is typically Rabbit, or perhaps Beaver. Wool has a different texture and is looked down upon as a cheap alternative to the "good stuff." I'm willing to wager that hat connoisseurs would know at a glance whether your hat is wool or fur. I suppose I could too, as long as the glance included reading the label Smile
