I once had a Sterling brand Scotch and Soda. I never use it anymore because it doesn't look at all real. Also, the insert goes into the shell too far so there is a little ridge around the tail side of the locked "half".
I was wondering if the Johnson one is better. It goes for the same price as the Sterling one ($40 Canadian). Thanks. |

Johnson is much better. The sterlings are kind of hit and miss. You should get a Johnson for $20 US.

Dancing Carrot lists just SOME of the problems with a gimmicked Scotch and Soda set.
It doesn't matter who makes it, the gimmicked coin will always sound and feel like a gimmicked coin. And that's why I came up with my No-Gimmick Scotch and Soda, in my Showtime column in the Linking Ring magazine some years back. Only real coins, and a routine that can be changed to fit about any situation. If anyone is interest, e-mail me and I'll be happy to send you the routine and handling. |
