Do you ever giveaway stuff to the birthday celebrant? If you do, what is a good giveaway to give the birthday celebrant you are performing for?

The b-day kid at the shows I do get the following:
- Magician's Assiatance certificate - Coloring flyer - Magic wand - Simply magic set - A photo of them floating on the chair suspension autographed every kid there gets the coloring flyer and the certificate to take home with them. If the parents want, for a small fee I can include magic wands for all the kids as well. Kyle

Not a problem at all. Most of what I give away is not that costly at all. Infact what the kids enjoy the most are the simple coloring flyers and certificates I give to them. Keep in mind that to a lot of kids we perform for, we are the first magicians they may have seen. I want to let them remember the experience by. Giving them a coloring flyer or a certificate is something that they not only want, but will keep and hold on to. It is a low cost item that has a lot of value added to it.

When I do a birthday party I give them an optical illusion card with my name and number on it as well as diplomas made up on my computer designed by me. The birthday child gets a gift that I buy or make up and produce it in a production box or a top hat. The parents like it and so does the birthday child.

I think it is important that if you are giving a child a promotional type of item, that it is something the child will want to have and keep and show to mom and dad. If you are having goody bags there, then putting a business card in them may work but you need to make sure that the kids give the gody bags to the parent. If they go through it and see your card, they may throw it aside as it is not anything fun to them.

If you are doing goodie bags you should be putting more stuff (prom material) other than your card.
The baseball trading card business card is great for this. The kids see this and they want to keep it because it looks like a baseball card or a pokemon card. ken |

Ken:
Thank you. That is EXACTLY the type of thing I am referring to. Using your promotions in such a way that it ptomotes you but that the kid will want to hold on to it and show mom and dad. If you do the trading card idea, then you can easily make up a series of them and have the kids wanting to collect them and trade them with each other. Kyle
