This thing looks cool! Could you set up a game and then ask them which piece would you move....or take? Would it work like that too?

I don't see why you couldn't. The only disadvantage I can imagine to that is that it becomes obvious that you're leading the spectator towards taking a specific piece, as opposed to ANY of the pieces on the board. (Plus there's the fact that the audience would not really be able to join in on the thinking unless you displayed the board in some fashion that would allow the crowd to get a really good view of the board.)

Plus it kills a big part of my feature. The fact that the mentalist apparently doesn't know the piece selected, till it's removed from the bag and seen to match the circled item in the chess book.
