Hi!
I recently bought Jay Scott Berry's chameleon knot effect, and have been having trouble following the description in the instructions about how to tie the fake knot. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to tie this knot, or where I might find a suitable knot written up? Many thanks in advance, Stephen

I have the same trick and the same issue. About the trick - I thought it was really lame at first - just thought it is so obvious what is happening. Not so! It burns my wife - my harshest and most unforgiving critic. The fake knot is described in Rice's Encyclopedia of Silk Magic, Vol. 1, I think....

I had the same problem with the instructions, but I think I have the basic idea down after fooling around with it and comparing to his online demo. I didn't realize the knot was in Rice. Silly me, everything's in there! I'll have to take a look.

I recently sold mine to another member on the Café and really regret it. At some point, I will probably end up buying the effect again.

He used to have a vid on his website, but I believe he took it down. It is on his silken dreams DVD which has some other nice stuff. The dvd is done to music only - no spoken words. I actually like it - makes you process things a little differently.

This effect, although nicely done by Berry, is not original and easy to make. The premise is used with feather flowers, rope, and silks.

I had it too - and got rid because of the quality of the explanation.
about 1 year later I saw someone performing it, and wished the explanation had been better, as I would have had a great little performance piece in my repetoire Bruce |

So back to the original question... How? I have the Rice book, but I still can't follow what JSB is trying.
I have the original ribbon model that I too put away. When he lectured again in Atlanta 7 years later, I bought the delux made with scarfs... fool me once shame on you--- fool me twice... I still can't figure it out from the new directions or his demo (saw it once before it went away). Thanks all, Lynn Fox |

Lynn,
Drop by the ranch next time you are over this way and I'll show you. Usually it is included in my lectures. It's like riding a bicycle once you have it. It is in several books and, I agree, not that easy to teach yourself. I think Pavel finally got through to me. (Even if he did say "Bob, we are not in our 20s anymore!". LOL Ask James Adamson. They teased me unmercifully!) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

You'll get it eventually, just keep trying and read Rice!

Thanks Bob... I don't have the job that allowed me to travel to LA ;-)
But if you are flying or driving thru Atlanta, let me know and we can catch up. Merry Christmas!! Lynn |
