I am now at the point where I want to hit the clubs and perform. For the folks out there who do perform, do you do it all on your own? Or do you have somebody that helps you with organizing your show?!
Just post everything that hits your mind Thx Rick p.s.: by the way, I don't need posts about how to construct my routines etc. Just want to know about preparing the stage

Personally it's a solo effort. My wife occasionally helps with bigger shows, such as corporate events. I suppose I'm more comfortable in setting up myself because this reassures me that everything is where I need it to be. It's also a way I can mentally prepare and finally rehearse the show quickly in my mind. I always do this as it helps me visualise and sometimes block out the moves in the actual venue and of course make any necessary adjustments. If at all possible though, view the venue well before your show as inevitably it will differ from your preconceived thoughts. If you can have an idea of how long it will take you to set-up you can plan more effectively and make the necessary arrangements with the venue co-ordinator. Over a period of time you will have this aspect well honed. Good luck. |

Well, when I did my full evening stage show I did everything: checked the lights, sound, house music and prepare all the props on stage.
I used to come in over an hour in advance because the props and other items had to be put in exact places and checked to see if everything was working. That's just me... I tend to do it all myself because I come from a theater background were you are used to making the flats, painting the stage, setting the lights, selling tickets then jumping on stage to act. And I actually feel more comfortable knowing I had a hand in everything... if things fail then it's all my fault and I don't need to point a finger at anyone. Greg
