Hi guys, I'm home!!!
I just added a video slide show of my work in Denmark. It's in the Video Downloads section. Check it out and leave your comments please. I should have more photos and video coming from other people who traveled with us. More to come...

Lovely! I just looooong back to Copenhagen. Such a great city. Nice slide show by the way. Did you need a permit on Ströget? Some people say you do, some say you don't.

Yes, you do need a permit. Although the consensus was if I couldn't get one in time, just do it anyway until told otherwise. The people in Copenhagen were very friendly, and I'm sure if I was stopped without a permit all I would have to do is apologize and ask where to go to obtain one and they would help me. While I was there nobody asked, but having two permits, one from the Police and another from the City makes for a nice souvenir. I had one police officer on bicycle stop and watch the show. As soon as he saw that I wasn't cheating anyone he smiled and cycled on.
Permits are free. You just have to apply for it at the City Hall two weeks prior to your event. I was lucky that I had people in CPH who had done this before, and she actually got permits faxed to her within three HOURS of her request! Originals arrived in the mail a few days later. My permit wasn't for Strøget but for a nicer venue between my wife's theatre and Norreport train station. It outlined the days I was to perform as well as the hours I was permitted. I was approved for June 8, 9, 10, at this square from 13:00-17:00 each day.

Thanks! That was the answer I was looking for. I'll see if I care about a permit then. Will probably just stay for some days. Depending on the outcome.

So.. do you have to translate your act to Denmark-ish on the fly?
Thanks for sharing Dave. Hope the props hold up well for you over there.

Thankfully, most Danes speak English. Some of them (actually most)speak it better than we do. The children don't learn English until a few years in school, but the kids that stopped had adults with them and they were happy to translate. I don't know the school schedules over there, but from about one o'clock on, there were children and adults alike, and I was situated in a square between the shopping district and the nearest train stop. Lots of foot traffic, and lots of room to spread out without blocking anybody.
Props held up fine. Your dice cup was a big hit. I reserved your Cocobolo wand for inside the theater as I didn't want to bang it up on the cobblestones.

In my travels, I've come to realize that in Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Holland, Finland, and Norway...everyone....including the dogs...understands English. A bit intimidating really.
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

Humbling is what it should be for us as a culture and who think everyone should speak something that makes us comfortable. Our one language.
