Can you guys recommend a good ITR or thread for PK work and levitations. I heard the spider pen is pretty good, but so are some of the ITRs. Any recommendations?

Mccf thread but you wont get it from any dealer as it costs £28 for about 10/15 metres .(molydenium coated carbon fibre) ultra strong, very, very smooth, near invisible.

I very often do PK routines and most often use micro ITR and for more informal situations I carry Spider Pen which really has a good quite invisible and yet strong thread. These two works very well for me.

Get the million dollar knot from penguin magic and you will get thread to make loops, effects to perform with them, and the absolute easiest way to tie a loop. Loops make for a very good means of impromtu PK.
Find out what you cannot do.., Then go and do it!

I've thought of getting the Spider Pen, but I'm not sure. I think that I'll give it a try.

I never leave home without my spider pen. It is one of the best buys I have ever made. You wont regret it.

Best,

I am going to buy the spider pen as a b-day present for myself, so can't comment on it yet.

But in general, if you are new to thread work, you should experiment with the basics first - buy some regular IT and practice with it, learn some hookups, maybe buy a pack of loops. Then, learn about itrs etc - it'll give you a better idea of the possibilities.

My expereince has been that each option - loops, IT, ITRs - has different pros and cons. For example, for its pure invisibility and magical looking qualities, my favorite bill float is just with regular IT and a Leclaire animator hookup. But when performing my closeup act or an extended routine where I am moving from one effect to another quickly and in and out of groups of people, the Lecalire animator (for me) is too fragile to rely on 100% of the time; again, for me, loops is much more convenient and practical in that kind of setting, even though I like the Leclaire float a little better.

Hi, I'm using diferents ITRs and ITs depending the effect I want to create.

I'm using one Standard and one Boss from Sorcery Manufacturing, one Spider pen, and my recently discovered Mark Allen's TM Generation 2 (Thread Manager) for low tension effects. This is my favourite for his design, easy refill, and the incredible invisible and strong thread-fiber. I'm using it with very different lighting conditions.

And, finally, for Mental routines I usually use loops that I do with the Ties System and with The Million Dollar Knot and depending the effect I use diferent kind of thread (more or less elastic).

If you need more info buy the 3 volumes Ammar's DVD exclusively IT dedicated and Jon LeClair. His original hookup, "LeClair Animator", is my preferred.

Congratulations to the creators of this forum and all the members for his serious contribution to magic. I'm learning daily very much from you. Thanks a lot!
Excuse my bad english (I'm from the island of Mallorca, Spain).

Good luck!
