Yes, this is correct. You can also knock a die from the cup under the "other" hand that is resting on the table. That takes a bit more practice to do naturally.
A combo of the two is a nice idea. The dice and purse routine employs this to do the color changes. If you're familiar with David Roth's "Purse and Glass" routine, which I feel is one of the greatest close-up tricks ever, this is along those same lines. the number of dice increase. there's a prediction. then the dice start changing from red to white. as the dice change to white the missing red die is found... in a coin purse. The last die changes and ends up in the purse in the spectator's hands. Yummy.

Thanks Frank,
Sounds like a delicious routine. LOL. I saw a guy who would use the steal to affect a penetration through the table among other things. Where is a good place to learn the technique? Does the new video on your sight teach the "same hand" steal and the other moves you have described above? Vandy

Honestly, I don't remember. I might have just learned it out of necessity.
It must be on one of the vidoes/dvds. seems like a natural thing to do. contatact me about getting a cheap cup and dice set if you're interested. it would come with cup/video/dice. Frank

The best way to learn dice routines is the way juggles learn new things with, say, 3 ball juggling.
You just start doing things. Play around, create, think outside the cup!
