Both are great I know but I'm a bit limited on my magic resource funds, so what should be my first choice "Draun from the Underground" book or CD? OR John Bannon's Dear Mr. Fantasy?

Actually I'd recommend Bannon's earlier work, Smoke And Mirrors. It's a mixture of cards and other magic and uniformly good stuff.

Yes apples and oranges, maybe more like red delicious apples and granny smith apples. I do mainly card magic which is better initial investment? If they are incomparable as Apples and oranges, why are they?
Thanks for the Smoke and mirror suggestion, hadn't considered that one. |

In my opinion get Impossibilia and S&M-they both excellent.

Hey guys,
I am not bias anybody here, just my humble opinion, but I think Secrets Draun from underground also an excellent book for card moves and some great card effects. Though I also would like to say John Bannon's latest and previous books were awesome too. Bannon...
simple tricks, strong, minimal sleight of hand....no dodgy angle prone sleights like tenkai, turnover pass...etc |

Draun's material is excellent but a little more advanced. His midnight shift is a beautiful move that's a great alternative to the classic pass. If your skill level is closer to beginner, pick up Bannon first.

My skill level is closer to beginner/ early intermediate. Draun sounds like it might be too tough for me at this point, but I do like challenges. I think I'm going to go with Bannon first. Any other opinions?

I think as a beginner/intermediate level card handler you'll find all of the material in Bannon's book well within your grasp with just a little bit of practice.
I'd advise you to pay particularly close attention to chapter 2. Learn that extended routine and you'll blow laymen away.

As a beginner, Bannon is your best choice. From intermediate on, the CDs by Draun are tremendous resources for card sleights. It's almost like having personal lessons.
