My nephew, 10 years old, has expressed an interest in learning the art. He's buying his first Rocky Raccoon and is soaking up everything I can teach him. Has anyone had any experiences with a 10 y/o apprentice/assistant? What are some good things to have him work on that won't get him "caught" if he shows off at school? He's pretty good with a streamer vanish with a TT but he's really wanting more.

Start him out with easy to perform magic effects that he can master easily. These will build confidence later when he tries the difficult stuff.
The best advice I can give is to get him in front of an audience as soon as he thinks he is ready. Magic is great but not if you can't show it to anyone/ S. Patrick |

And please let him know that the purpose of magic is not to show that "I am better than you" but rather the attitude of entertaining and empowering.
Many young kids I saw today have the wrong attitude and that defeats the purpose of magic. |
