The benefits of the Sankey Mr Clean Coins Across is that it leaves you completely clean and few unmotivated movements; but it does have the disadvantage that you can only show one hand open just before the magic happens, because unfortunately the other hand has fewer coins than it should have. i.e. we can conceal a coin but we can't make one appear where it isn't.

With a [ we could get round that; i.e. we could show both hands palm up with the "correct" number of coins, close fists, squeeze, open the palms and show one coin travelled.

Has anyone worked out handling for this? I get stuck on how to un-[ a coin with just one hand. (Use two hands and you end up with messy back and forth movements that detract from the simplicity of the overall Mr Clean approach.)

Roth's coins across w/ [ does as you suggest. There's still some hand to hand moves but it's one of my favorites.

By using a [ it could no longer be called "Mr. Clean".

If you learn the stuff in Kainoa's book you can do some very convincing Coins Across routines. If you add a porper rattle gimmick... you can seriously mess with people.

I have two coins across routines that were specifically designed to show both hands palm up have the appropriate number of coins before one travels.

It really has nothing to do with Sankey's routine, mine includes a few techniques of Paul Cummins and David Roth's. The Coinvention version also includes a Geoff Latta/Homer Liwag idea for the middle phase. But I basically started from scratch and worked through the handling until I got what I was looking for.

The first version is called, "Three Way Crossing" I have a web video of it here.

The second one I call "Coinvention Crossing" which is the version I put on the Coinvention DVD (On that DVD I still called it "Three Way Crossing", but I have since changed the name to differentiate between the two routines).

Both versions are published in Coinvanish Vol. 2.

I have played with a routine combining Sankey's methodology with a shell. My routine "Tastefull Coins Across" avoids the backclipping, and allows cleaner displays of both hands, even though you can't always show both hands.

I think the combination of gaff and sleight helps to diffuse heat.

By the way, you can backclip a shelled coin, which may open up possibilities for you.

The irony on this gave me some giggles.
From time to time posts keep popping up about how strong Mr. clean coins Across is, because it does not use any [. Which eventually leads into the battle of purists vs. gaffers.
And now the "innovative" idea is brought up to put a [ in Jay's routine. hihi!

Thanks for all the ideas, very useful
The irony of introducing a [ wasn't lost on me. Of course, you can't use gaffs and be clean. But that doesn't mean the "clean" routine doesn't have ideas worth borrowing.

I agree completely with that. I strongly believe in the Magic happening When opposites Meet!
