I am getting $100 for my birthday and I want to buy some card magic books and/or DVDs
and I would like some suggestions on what to get. I want: strong impact card material, Flourishes, gambling/card cheating sleights. Here is what I was thinking of getting Apocolypse vol 3 or Simon Lovell's card sharks vol 1&2 or ed marlo's revolutionary card techneque any suggestions? (FYI:I cant check for back for a day or two) Thanks

I guess it depends on your skill level. Of the three choices, I would suggest Marlo's revolutionary card technique...but the material in the book isn't heavy on flourishes.

If it's flourishes you're after I would strongly recommend Jeff McBride's 'The Art of Card Manipulation' series. Very informative.

You may be surprised with a small investment of $15 bucks from H&R Magic.
Magic of Jack Carpenter Video Volume 2 I would aggree with Raven16's call on the McBride Series. Lot's a good starting places for flourishes. I've seen this video series at great prices many times on Ebay. S.W.

Ed Marlo's Revolutionary Card Technique is definitely THE choice to make. Trust me, you'll learn so much from the book. It does have gambling/cheating moves such as false dealing, palming and switching cards. But note that the level of this material is on the hard side. My favourite move out of the entire book is the D'Amico One Hand Second Deal. I mastered it in about 3 days. It's amazing. You get so much material on that book. The stories in the book are fascinating, and the moves are beyond amazing.
Get this and you won't be disappointed. Cheers, Michael |

Ed Marlo-RCT is very in depth, defenatly not for skimming through, you really have to sit down and digest it.
Simon Lovell-card sharks,if that's the 'how to swim with sharks'or something like that well,if you have some knowledge on gambling moves/techniques etc, then you wont find anything new here... In my opinion,Apocalypse is the way to go,i have all four of those bad boys, and have always got my nose in one of them... Just my opiniom DADE |
