The amount of bounce that is acceptable in a chop cup ball depends entirely upon the setup you are using. A short cup requires a lower bounce ball than a taller one. If you have problems getting the outfit to work, it is not necessarily due to bad manufacturing. It may be due to a mismatch.

I just got some of the balls from François and Pascaline Danis. These are really nice balls, some of the best I have ever seen.
I'll be posting a review of them once I have a chance to play around with them a bit.

I'd completely forgotten about this thread I once started.
Apologies for never getting things finished. My wife got into some involved writing business after I'd started the thread. She had no time to manufacture on demand. For the time being I keep her as my personal ball-crochetist ;-) I noticed some very cool offerings by other manufacturers though.

I did get a set of 4 a long time ago that came with 3 ungimmicked and one chop, and I still like them for C&B because they are a deep blue that doesn't show dirt, but I can't use the gimmick ball with a chop cup because I can never make it disengage, no matter how hard I slam it.
Woke up.

You can adjust this in most of the older balls.
It will take you about 10 minutes to a half hour, but the adjustment will be permanent. PM me for information.

I just got a set of Bazar De magia cups and I really like the balls that come with them. Highest quality 'normal' crochet balls I have seen so far. Does anyone know if they come in smaller sizes? I think the ones with the cups are 1"? Id like some smaller ones for my other cups...
thanks -todd

I just got some very nice load balls from François and Pascaline Danis. These are the right size for the Baby Don Chop Cups.
They sent me a sampling of their work, which I should have on the web site this weekend. The four balls I got are Navy Blue with red metallic thread, Black with silver metallic thread, Red with gold metallic thread, and Olive with multicolored metallic thread. The color that will work best for you depends on the color of your close-up mat and your clothing. These are really nice balls! The craftsmanship is excellent! I should add this: The darker balls have quite a bit of metallic thread in them, so they will show up well, even if you have a fairly dark close-up mat.
