Myself, I like, Automanticard, Clubble, No/No (Though I don't do it), Charliersatz, Vespers, Keyknow, Kystic, and Windecks. As there are so many GEMS in this book, those are what come to mind now. Later on I may think of more. I think this is the "New Steps" to Mentalism book so to speak. So what routines do you all do, and what ones are your favorite and WHY? Ed, (Eddini).
Does anyone do or like the above mentioned effects I've named? This book is such a great deal. I heard at one time, he sold each script to only a select few for hundreds of dollars so if you got, or if you get this book, it's a steal at $60.00, I think that's what I paid anyway, Ed, (Eddini).

Yes, it is a great book, filled with good ideas. Though I only tried The Climson Count. It fooled fellow magicians. They thought there was some sleight of hand involved.

There is also some excellent principles in the book that lend themself to other effects, such as the one with the prediction on the tape recorder, or the one when you post a photograph of something to somebody, and when it arrives it is strangely changed.
But my favourite effect is backdate. (I think that's what it is called) oh, and the stuff on psychometry. |

I like the Crimson count- and perform it with business cards and a big red X as a "quickie". I then hand the business card to them
there is also an effect there called long wave which is the same idea....
It is hard to believe a man is telling you the truth if you know that if you were in his situation you would be lying.

I can't remember what it was called, but I remember fooling a room full of magicians with an effect where various people get four or five cards and think of one of them and then you end up calling out all the cards they are thinking of.
I changed it up a bit and gave it a psychic poker presentation, but the general idea came from the book. I just like reading the book because it gives me other ideas and ways of thinking. Greg

I just re-discovered his blister-transfer effect. It absolutely kills!
I also started using the voo-doo needle effect too. |

I've only read about 15 pages so far, and I'm already blown away by this guy's thinking. Just the first effect, Box Office, is brilliant! I'm going to build one of these. If the rest of the book is as good as the first 15 pages, then I whack myself on the side of the head for having purcahsed all those other mentalism books, because this one will keep me busy for a lifetime or two. The man's a genius! And no wasted words here! Cripeys!

Now that I think on it, I don't actually perform any of the effects in MMM as written (although I'm considering using 'Trivarication' as a follow-up to my new love 'Terasabos'.)
But I've used so many of the principles described... it's a goldmine when you have an effect in search of a method.

I have built a couple of versions of Box Office over the years. One with a pull out drawer which is fairly heavy and stays at the house, and a smaller one with the tray which I use in selected shows. It's a pretty good effect with proper presentation. Also take a look at Flipsight I (just a few pages past Box Office). That's not bad. I also made a Handbook once but never used it much.

I didn't use a box per say, but I took the largest hollow book I could find and made a "Book of Fate" with the various items inside representing different fates for all of us. I've attached some pics of it so in case you have trouble finding the right box, try a hollow book. Plus it has the added bonus of, magicians use boxes, mentalists use books! I didn't use the "items" on the predictions as in the original, but envelopes (the preparation of which should be obvious to anyone familiar with the original construction). I also added a close-up pad in the inside bottom to eliminate any noise, plus underneath the close-up pad is a final "out" prediction for any trouble makers who choose not to take an item! It tells them their fate was not to choose any item!

Very nice!
I like the book of fate as opposed to using a box!
