Quick question, when advertising, or suggesting events on business cards, for us -- who is our ideal or target audience? In your opinions?

It depends on what you do.
Is your act aimed kids, adults, both?
Who would be the best target depends on your act.

Hi Icy,
Since printing business cards on the computer is so cheap why not design different ones for different potential customers.
Personally, I carry 5 different cards at all times.

You really have to think of who you want to target with your card. If you work several very different clients, then you will want to do one of 2 things:

1) create a specific and direct designed card that really targets that market and target audience or...

2) Create a more generic calling card that would have your branded logo or image on it and have your contact information

Either way can work for you. The mistake is trying to say and do too much on your business card. If you feel you are headed that way, it is best left for a marketing material like a postcard or tri-fold brch.

Reference your website on your card which should have all the pertinent info.

Two of the largest items (and most important), phone number and website.

They certainly can be on there especially if you are going the route of a calling card. If you want a more target marketed card, then you may just want the card to direct them to a website you have set up. Only you can make that decision on how and what you want your card to do for you.

I have stuck with my target audience of children and their families. I do not do adult only shows (with or without blue material) because I focus on what I am good at and what I enjoy doing.

I completely agree about having separate biz cards for the different markets.
I also have different web sites for my kids shows and adult shows.

A good source for biz cards is http://www.gotprint.com
$35 for 1,000 full color cards. Much cheaper than printing your own.

People agonize about what to put on their cards, but I don't think it makes much difference. I've experimented with loads of different designs and messages on my business cards. When I was doing restaurants, I gave out cards to everyone and I didn't notice any difference in response if I had my photo on or not, or whether or not there was a logo.

The very best thing is to get the other person's information. Put them on your e-mailing list and contact them regularly.

The next best thing is to provide an incentive for them to keep your information to hand. The problem with business cards is that people don't have a place to keep them, so they get thrown away. Ask yourself this...where are all the business cards people give YOU!

Fridge magnets are good, but expensive. Pens are not good.

A few years ago I discovered the perfect solution and it is the only thing I use now...personalized million dollar bills. People keep them in their wallets forever! And guess where you can get them...?!
