For God's sake don't ever lose this clip of yourself. Years and years from now if you should ever get caught up in the new craze of the day or find yourself just going through the motions having lost the joy of magic...just play this video and relive the wonder. It might bring you back from the dark side.
I enjoyed watching this brief coin flurry more than countless routines of 'pros' I've seen on recent DVD's. Well done young man. Enjoy the journey. |

I shiver to think what would happen if I was trying to show off my "skills". |

Maybe I misunderstood some of the comments. I'm not sure how to respond to the replies to my last message.
However, I feel quite sure that the old geezer who made the comment about "ever hear of a *****?" couldn't duplicate the routine with a *****, a mechanical device and the assistance of Burling Hull.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all of the advice, I don't take it as 'taking a hard time'. I received that coin stand in the mail today...I'll try it out a couple of weeks on an audience. That will solve the problem of the production of the coin. I really appreciate all of the comments, criticism and compliments. Ben |

Very nice coin skills. work on the productions better and give the productions a TWIST in order for it not to give away the secret of the concealment. Praises to your work.

I showed the exact same routine you see on that video to the VP of the magic circle and M.I.M.C. Henry Lewis this evening ( not to name drop or anything). The first thing he said was 'Very, very clean. You have nice fingers.' So I guess this routine is very CLEAN. that's the resonse I've got anyway.

Bproud,
I got Shoot's Hollywood DVD and have been working through the Schizoid Vanish. (You were right, by the way. Nerd is also excellent.) Now that I've worked with them for awhile I'm even more impressed with your skill. These are not easy vanishes - I'm curious what the other 4 were Shot mentions. He says he has eight methods. I agree with George. The productions could use attention. And if you do this for the "squares", i.e laymen, you might want to ease into some pocket penetrations, copper change, multiple coins, whatever to give it more of an organic feel. As a magician I admire your work but laymen might see it as "guess where the coin is." Thanks again for the DVD recommendation. |

Hey Dan,
I'm glad you got the DVD, isn't it great? Shoot showed me some the other 4 versions. I'll PM you about them. I agree about the productions - working on it. You are TOTALLLY right about laymen...it all looks the same to them. I've performed this publicly for an audience 5 times and heres what I did. First vanish, coin goes into my pocket. Second one, coin goes into my pocket and is picked through the front of the pants. Third time its picked from the front of the spectators pants, and the last time the spectator finds it in their pocket after the complete vanish. Ben |

Being hard? You haven't gone to some of the more elitist forums, now, have you (particularly writing).
It was technically very good, and that's all I'm commenting on. I don't suppose you (often) perform it like this to layman anyway. To be honest, I'm not easily impressed anymore, having seen so many good clips, so I won't lie and say I am. But I can tell that you're pretty good at it, and I'm sure if you incorporate it well into your performance it's fine. I find it boring though. Nothing less than deep back clip or godly retention vanishes or natural edge grips impresses me nowdays if you're only showing the technical side. As said above, some people can juggle hippos or something, and it's more rewarding to be more entertaining than others than to be more skilled than others. This isn't aimed just at you, by the way, I'm not saying you're a move monkey. The shape of the palm and the productiosn, as mentioned, could be improved, otherwise it should be fine. I would pace it better, personally, though I guess it's just a video.

Hey bp,
Check Eric Jones' work with his Karate Coin effect...His EG work is right on the money, along with his timing, vanishes & reproductions, etc. It's absolutely beautiful stuff to watch, and shows a deeper understanding and caring of what's being shown and seen. It's just my oppinion, again I like what you've done and can see it being even better. -MB

Dan, Took me a while to locate this, but this is where Eric initially directed the forum to go take a look at his work. I believe it does include him playing around with his version of the Karate Coin. I've seen Godhandz do this somewhat upclose and it's really wonderfully done, I dare say "Mastered!" The very best version of it that I've ever seen. Let us know your thoughts. Enjoy!

I'm still trying to figure this out.
Is this actually done for real audiences very often? I'm stuck between hoping for your sake that it is, and hoping for your sake that it is not. I suppose 'clean...good fingers' is a nice compliment from a Magician...wouldn't want to get it from a normal person, but again, perhaps I'm missing the focus of this piece. I've felt a strange tug at my facial muscles when performing coin magic in the mirror or on video...not sure what attempts to cause such at this time, but I am fairly sure that those expressions are best left to Mickey Silver... Not trying to be offensive, just confused. |

No, I don't do the routine I did on the video for lay audiences. I described the routine back a while on this page of posts. I don't catch your drift on the expressions however, are you saying that expression on your face during coin work can only be done by Mickey Silver?

I think he means all your little facial expressions made to the camera, all your little smiles and winks or what have you, but I could be wrong, and slow down a little, you've put the work in, now actually PERFORM it, do it to a lay audience, Shoot doesn't perform just for a camera, he performs all his tricks to lay audiences too.
