Paul Winchell (Tigger) and John Fieldler (Piglet) have both just recently passed. They will both be missed.
2 very unique voices that have been silenced forever. It's a sad day here in 100 Acre Woods. |

Hopefully they are both happily playing pooh-sticks...

I always enjoyed Paul Winchell. I remember he had a show on TV when I was younger.
He was also the inventor of the artificial heart.

I used to enjoy Paul Winchell Saturday mornings on the old Metromedia, Channel 5, out of New York. Jerry Mahoney, Knucklehead Smith, and Farquar the dog. Remember Farquar used to do the plugs for Nestles' Chocolate. N...E..S...T..L...E...S.. Nestles makes the very best . . . C..h..o..c..o..l..a..t..e!

It was Jimmy Nelson's Farfel who did the Nestles Chocolate, not one of Paul Winchel's.

Here's a bit of sunshine on a drab day.
The late Edgar Bergen used to work Las Vegas quite frequently. As most of us on the forum know, Edgar was at one time a fine ventriloquist, but years of work on the radio let him destroy his "chops." He moved his lips a lot when he did his routines. He was working at one of the Vegas venues, when one of the customers said "Paul Winchell doesn't move his lips!" Bergen retorted "Paul Winchell doesn't have three million dollars!"

Oh, I didn't know that. My brother got interested in ventriliquism and he got a video with "tigger" as I can remember it teaching how to do ventriliquism. I thought he sounded a lot like tigger! Its too sad that he died. The last thing he said on the movie was. "I am not teaching this art to you for the money, or to ruin the art. I am teaching you this because when I pass on, I want the art of Ventriliquism to stay alive." or something along those lines. I hope ventriliquism stays around for many years to come!

I was too young to see and hear Paul Winchell's shows, but when I first became interested in magic, I found "Ventriloqism For Fun and Profit" and read it cover to cover a few times. I think mine was the only name at the library for this book. Sorry to see such a talent gone.
