I don't know if it is new or not but Hocus Pocus has been advertising Cody Fisher's 'The Impossible Box'. A signed coin appears in a small tin (held closed with rubber bands) inside a ball of yarn inside a plexiglass box (held closed with rubber bands). It's pretty pricy but I like the look of the props:
https://hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/?p=63845 I'm a sucker for "coin or ring to impossible location" type of tricks (I have too many of them, including the previously mentioned Porper Strong Box with routine by Gaetan Bloom) but this Cody Fisher one looks like fun. I'm waiting for someone to buy it and then share better photos of the props. Mark

I mentioned some routines earlier, found in Rubinstein Coin Magic, but there wasn't much interest in the post. So, here are a few videos of some of the routines that I mentioned:
https://youtu.be/-8tKshNQA3E https://youtu.be/W8SgpS4k-DA https://youtu.be/dXWvZzwrlW8 https://youtu.be/vy2VmOHwLCM There are actually some more in the book, including updated handlings of these routines, and strategies for coins that are marked, but not by signing.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Anyway, the "reason" for a tin, ball or yarn, and plastic box is to create the "impossible" location to which the coin might magically transport. You may disagree, but I think my spectators will understand that without any need to explain. I could perform the effect by having a signed coin appear in my pants pocket but that doesn't exactly feel "impossible". Mark

I found that the ones I bought are hard to open in the beginning. I just keep opening and closing them until it becomes a bit looser. That has always worked for me, but I imagine that if they are still too hard to open you can use wd 40.

But, when you introduce a wholly incongruous collection of items that make absolutely no sense to be together, it really telegraphs to the audience you're just using a bought weird magic prop. Thus destroying any chance of creating the moment of astonishment I strive for. Maybe you like doing dealer dem style magic, which is wholly your prerogative. I prefer to at least try to create something magical. For example, signed coin or card in ice feels like magic. Coin in a tin, in a weird plastic box inside some yarn feels like a prop. Each to their own. |

Kaws, I agree. Regarding coin under watch, you might like this one, also found in Rubinstein Coin Magic:
