That sounds like the title of a song don't it? Anyway, I need to make a couple of units that shoot out sparks. I looked at the Loftus funkenring but it wont do the job. I need to make two, they need to be battery powered and push-button triggered. My question is what kind of wheel can I use to rub against the flint? If anyone has made something like this let me know, I have a couple of other question to ask. Funkenring, what a great name! Thanks.

I'm not sure what the material the wheel is made of, but I do know that Dan Sylvester makes a heavy-duty battery operated funken ring that does exactly what you need. The Loftus ones are very flimsy and break after a couple of uses. Sylvester's cost $80, but it may be a ready-made solution for you.

Old Zippo lighter top works for me! I use it in my Madame Zelda Illusion, released this month in The Wizards' Journal #5.

May I suggest just taking a wheel from a discarded lighter?

I have a couple of BIC lighter flints and wheels that I removed from the fluid tank. They're from older lighters but even had a short stem that could be clipped between the fingers.
