I beg to differ Greg.
The principal, the original idea may come from the originator.. but the performance style, now that's something that you truly need to think about. For example, I am seeing too many Sankeys, too many Wilsons and way too many Blaines out there. The use of media to acquire certain tricks have become so convinient that people are not bothering to learn but copy. But I do differ in fact that it is okay to purchase effects, as longas handling and the setting is set in order to fit indiviaual needs, not the needs changed to fit the effect. The best example of this would be music. Musicians, Orchestras don't come up with their own stuff, they purchase already written ones. Granted there aren't any "Magical routine creators" out there, but its the playing style whih makes the music so alive, so personal to the performer. right/' Then it should be the style of performance which makes the magical effect so special to one person, not the effect itself After all, history repeats itself, thers bound to be similar effects to almost anything sooner or later.
