I want to change a 3" in diameter ball into a peach around the same size, unfortunatly 3" seems to be a bit too big to conceal well for a basic switch. Anyone have any pointers?

Use a shell over the peach?

Brainwave bump here...Saw a Jay Sankey bit in one of the major magazines a few months back that was a physical movement piece to transform a ball into an egg. It may be able to adapt to the peach scenario. Sorry I cant be more specific on the magazine. As I remember, it was a sneak peek of Jay's last book. Hope that helps.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

Yes, the book is called Sankey Unleashed, and the trick you're referring to is called "Bouncing Baby". However, in as much as it is kind of a traditional method, I'm not sure it could be used in this capacity.

The shell wouldn't be feasable, I'm using a crystal ball, so it would expose the peach.

A well planned bit of misdirection can work.
Topit? A hanky could be used and would provide some cover. Would a Devil's Napkin or a Change Bag be out of the question? |

I am not into stage magic at all, just went through the sections on the forum, and saw this topic.
Maybe you could take a baloon which you put the peach in, and then for the transformation yuo could just pull of the balloon, done! Ray Kosby have something similar.

That's a clever idea. I was kind of hoping to use a clear ball though. I'll keep that in mind.
A topit is feasable, but since I'm using such large objects it might be hard to do unnoticed. . . |

Just got back from the Boston SAM, so I missed a lot of great posts here. I want to try and understand what exactly you are wanting to do. Please correct me if I am wrong.
You would like to take a 3" crystal and clear sphere and change it instantly into a peach? What are you doing before thsi switch has to take place? Do you want to use a clear bag of sorts? Any info might make me better help you. Kyle

Its part of a contact juggling routine I'm planning out. I'd like to juggle the crystal ball and then turn it into a peach.
The ball is a clear, 3" acrylic ball. I'd only like to use props if they aren't overly gimmicky. IE I don't want to put the ball into a box and make it vanish or anything like that; I'd like it to be nice and simple. Thanks |

As I think someone mentioned earlier you could use a topit and vanish the ball that way. To Make the switch you could steal the peach from your jacket or a table steal. If you want a real eay method, you could use a flip fly bag. You place the ball in and tear the bag apart and down to reveal it has changed into the peach. Very simple to do but does use a prop to make the switch happen.

Flip fly bag? I'm not sure that I'm familiar with this effect. Is this where you use a brown paper bag and have a false bottom and keep the load underneath?
A topit does seem to be the most reasonable way, though I'd rather something maybe a bit cleaner I will certaintly give this method another shot. thanks for the help |

The Topit done correctly will be the absolute cleanest and most dramatic method.
I have just been playing in a mirror switching an Orange for an Apple and it works beautifully. The only tip I'd give is to not reveal the change immediatly. It'll work, just practise. Paul |
