Getting to know Don Driver has just been a really good idea.
My hats have been flagging lately. People seem to be holding onto their money for some reason. And Santa Monica recently changed to law to state that you can sell things that are directly related to your performance. So I decided to dust off that gross of Zvengalis I bought a few years ago. Here's what I'm doing. I'm doing the cups and balls to bring them in. Before I begin the cups, I tell them that at the end I will teach them a trick. Then I do the cups, pass the hat, and then go itno the Svengali pitch. I sell at least one every show. that's a minimum of an extra five bucks per hat. I do about three an hour, so that's an extra 15 bucks an hour. that's a pretty big raise! |

Zack, I agree with the Don Driver statement. Just being associated with him has brought you a couple of very important concepts. The knowledge in how to build a tip is nearly priceless, and his methodology is just simple. This is going to be a DVD that flys off the shelves, because truly, it takes nothing but the wish to build a crowd. Next, he has given you another very important gift; he has shown you that the ability to do better is already in you, just tap into your imagination. Don gives one the kick in the seat to WANT to do better. Here you were, Zack, knowing that the hats were getting light, and rather than just find someone else to share a beer with and commiserate, you said, "They are still walking around Santa Monica with my money, and I want it." Next step, how to do it? Congratulations, Zack. Now you know that those things you learned from Don will continue to pay off as you need them. Be well, and heavy hats.

Zack, do you perform at the Third Street Promenade? I'm in LA for a couple more weeks, and in my month here so far I've been out to Santa Monica about 3 times.
If so, when are you performing next? I'd love to come watch. Kevin

I'll be there tomorrow. If I get a spot I'll be on the peir, otherwise I'll be on third street. Look for a large loud man in a pork pie hat.
I just counted up tonight. I'm making MORE MONEY pitching Svengalis in my home town than I was pitching kitchen gadgets for Jerry Spaulding. ***. I'm thinking I should stop telling people about this. |

A lot of us here can attest to the effectiveness of Pitching Svengali Decks Don's way.
And now that I have also learned something about the Bally, between using that to start my street shows, and pitching Svengali Decks when I am not busking, I can make a tidy sum thanks to Don Driver. Don't worry about telling others about it, because you probably already have staked out the best pitches in your town, and frankly, most guys are too lazy, or too proud of their "skills" as a magician to do it. I, on the other hand am a hustler from the early days, pool, pinball, any kind of quick buck hustle in the old days, although I no longer knowingly take advantage of people, a Svengali, and a two card Monty for $6 is hardly a swindle or taking advantage of anyone. It is just making a good deal available and offering an entertaining sales pitch to do it. So as long as you stay out there and I stay back here, we will be both be OK Even when Don's new DVD comes out, we wont have to worry much. As many will buy it just to know how it is done. And they will be all the richer for the experience. But that doesn't mean they will all have the stones to go out and do it. The information that Don gives out on the Svengali tape, and the new DVD is as close as you will ever get to a free lunch. But most citizens don't believe in a free lunch at all, so while many will buy it, and I encourage anyone who wants to get better at drawing a crowd and managing it to get the tape and the DVD, only a hardy few will actually get out and do it as shown on the tape and DVD. I'm still at it. Just added the fuzzle worm to the product line. I am now getting $10 per sale and selling three per pitch. that's in addition to the hats. Life is good.

Hey Zack,
Glad you are doing so well. I see the price of my Svengali pitch video has more than paid for its self. Keep up the good work. Later, Don |

Don's video and the book from He Who Can Not Be Named Here are all you really need.

Over the holidays I visited with some old friends and their son came up to me with a deck of cards. He said they bought it from some guy who did some incredible stuff with them. Asked me to show him a few moves. I opened the deck and found it was a Svengali.
We worked on a few effects, worked up his routine, and the rest I left up to practice. He said his dad bought it for him and "it was just ten bucks!". How about that! The pitchman making ten bucks a pop. Not bad. It's some fleamarket in Oklahoma. At that rate he probably makes more than the average office employee. Hehehehe. Apparently everyone involved walked away satisfied and glad they met. You couldn't ask for a better deal. Ten bucks! Hehehehe... |

Hey Randy. Ten bucks is not outrageous. It's still a bit high but the prices are creeping up there. Don and David just finished the Denver Stock show and I believe they were getting pretty close to that 10 dollar price tag. And that includes a free two card monte!!
I wonder who the Pitchman was. Vandy
