As said before, I use a 1-10, with 10 being PERFECT rating scale. I judge on The Tricks, (Impact), Technique, Teaching Style & Understanding, and Video Quality, such as Camera Angles...ECT.
1) Twisted Flush - This is a more "movey" type of trick somewhat like Maxi-Twist, which I like a bit better than this one. This is a idea of Ed Marlo's. This is a Twisting The Aces Type of trick where the cards turn into a royal flush in spades. The patter is good too. I rate this a (8). 2) How Cheater's Cheat - This is Bill's Routine for the invisible palm trick by Larry Jennings. His Sleights and patter are very smooth. This is a trick that kills. I personally don't do a invisible palm routine but judging from tapes people go nuts as card appear on the table. Jennings really came up with a excellent trick when he invented this one. Some moves may be a little difficult so practice, practice, PRACTICE!!! I rate this a (9). 3) Radical Aces - This is a very visual Ace Producing routine after the SPECTATOR shuffles the deck. This is highly entertaining, and not too hard. I rate it a (8). 4) Resetting Reset - This is just another version of Paul Harris's Reset. I wouldn't say it's any better or any worse than Paul's Handling. This is a awesome transpostion trick between 8 cards in itself. Bill's patter is funnier though. I rate this a (8). 5) Good Trick, Bad Trick - To me personally this trick isn't too logical, or really to me at least makes any sense. It isn't very good in my opinion. Basically a named card is produced from your pocket. It's mildly funny though when he asks the spectator if they want to see a good trick or a bad trick. I rate this a (5). 6) Skinner's Matches - A trick by Michael Skinner I guess though this is the first I've seen the trick. I've seen variations in begginer books BUT don't let that fool you. This is a GREAT effect with lots of comedy. Takes out two matches then burns the whole book. He then has one match go from one hand to the other. He then Links and unlinks them. (I've seen this method in books and I've always thought people would catch on but apparently not). He makes them disapear, only to have them appear to be the ONLY TWO UNBURNED matches in the matchbook connected. I rate this a (8). 7) Walk Aroung Knives - I don't do the color changing knives nor have I ever, BUT if I did this is the routine I would do. This is multi-climatic, and lots of fun. A spectator participates but just can't get the hang on it. This is very well done. It easily gets a (9). You will need to buy this. 8) Four Burglers - You attempt to do the common Four Buggler trick will Aces only to find out it needs to be done with the Jacks instead. The Aces turns into Jacks. I thought this was a little weak myself. If you're not careful you might get caught. I rate this a (7). 9) Only Had Two - This is a great two card's to pocket routine at the end the whole deck goes to the pocket. This is funny, and isn't too difficult to do. Just watch your angles. On his Ambitious Card Routine the deck winds up in the Pocket too if I remember right. I rate this a (8). 10) Two Card Impossible Location - Basically two cards are selected. The cards are shuffled. The card are counted, the selections put back, cut and so on. This went right by me. This trick takes HARD WORK. Like I said even he had a blooper on this on volume two. This Trick is litterally hard to back-track even for Magicians I think. I rate this a (8). 11) Bill Malone On The Multiple Selection - This is a superb trick Bill uses with Multiple selections. I like the method too. It's all very loosey-goosey, and fair. His revelation are pretty standard, but the method is BRILLIANT. It's a fun trick too. This will take some practice. I rate this a (9). As I said out of all the Tapes / DVD'S this series is like a top 5, as well as him along with Ortiz, Ammar...ECT at being one of my Top 5 Magicians. This volume is probably my second favorite and first one of the series I bought since it has the most material. Three is my favorite though. But Volume Three if you ONLY could buy one, BUT the whole set is great. You'll be getting your money's worth plus a WHOLE LOT more such as advice and so on. Overall I rate this tape a (8).

Perhaps you misunderstood my question.
How do you rate your own performance skills on your scale of 1 -10? The same scale you rate the Malone DVD's.

My OWN performing? I consider myself average / intermediate. I'd say I'm between 6-8 depending on the day. I try my hardest though....lol, Ed, (Eddini).

Interesting.
I would rate Ricky Jay, Terry Vecky, Bill Malone at a ten. And me at a 5. Even though I have performed magic and worked along side both Bill Malone and Terry Vecky and the audience there liked my magic as well as anyone that was there!

Wow a 5. You're MUCH BETTER than that Glen. I've seen your work on tape. You're cutting the Aces routine is a REAL FOOLER. If I was going according to your scale, I'd be a 1, SERIOUSLY....lol. I NEVER rate ANYTHING, Trick, Tape, or Person a 10. To me a 10 is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, and NOTHING, and NO ONE is perfect. In all of my reviews you'll NEVER see me rate anything a 10. A 9.5 is the highest I rate. Heck Glen, I'd rate you a SOLID 8-9 according to what I saw, but if you're a 5, then I'm a One. I too have people say they like my stuff, or that I'm the Best they've seen...ect. We've all heard it. I like Doc Eason's advice on his Volume Three Bar Magic tape of not letting it go to your head. Like I said, I think I'm Average / Intermediate. I'm not Super Good, but I don't totally suck either. My Self-Esteem is low I've been told. I Truly DO think I'm average though. That's why, I think I do Street Work mostly. I'm not good at selling myself at all. I've been a Magician, or into Magic 14 years now, and have done Street Magic 8 years. I only do like 2-3 "Shows" a year, just from business cards. Only ONCE have I had the guts to NOT JUST do Magic for a waitress, but to try to sell my idea of Resturant Magic to one Manager. I only did it once. I'll try it again. I need to find a indoor place for the winters....lol. Thanks, Ed, (Eddini).

Thanks for the complements.
I look at Terry Vecky, Ricky Jay and Bill Malone, Rich Crowly, Tony Picasso and I admire their ability to take artistic magic and also make it entertaining. Their jokes and gags are very funny. When I do magic I don't do comedy but I use humor. My style is a low softer than these guys - but I feel everyone has to their thing their own way. If you like my video I have a tone of new video in my teach in theater at my web site. If your interested in going after restaurants PM me and I will give you my 2 cents about that market.

I have Bill Malone's DVD. I am not a magician. I do shipping and timber business for living. I try to buy all the best magic books and dvds, even tough I reallly seldom to perform it. Just among friends and family. My father is also a fans of magic. I watch the Malone's dvd together with my dad, and he kep saying "This guy is amazing". I think Malone's techniques are flawless and also his joke. And David , is a really cool spectator also . I think, Malone is one of the best. And also, I have watched Glenn Bishop's three shell game, and mannn.... your performance is amazing. Your performance is great, I will rate it 9 or may be 10 Really. YOur three shell game is amazing. That's make me want to learn it.

Yes I saw that one too. He is great. I like his Ambitious card. Glen, it took me a second time, (not to give away your secrets), I love that load into the card box. It's very BOLD to me, but I love it....lol. I didn't figure out the shell game at all. Your cutting the Aces is the best though. I did notice the false shuffling, and cuts, but where the aces were and how you got to them in the beginning, I got no idea, unless you can spot card quickly as they fall off your thumb, or if it is a riffle stack, you got me there. I'll PM you about the Restaurant Stuff too soon. Thanks.
As far as Bill Malone, I love is style, he is good. I'll admit I DO use a few of his lines. I think every Magician uses other Magician's lines from time to time. To me stealing is stealing a TRICK. I use his helicopter story, and his Blow-Up **** story, with good results. I mean look, almost EVERY Magician uses the line including me "Show the card to everyone, I won't look because I've seen the trick before". I'm not sure who created that. I use lines ONLY if it's age appropriate, and I KNOW it won't offend. I'd be so totally hurt, crushed and mad at myself if ever after a display of Magic if someone came up to me and said "I was offended by...., or hurt by...." as myself I'm sensitive too. What I do is in good natured fun. There's a line or two Jay Sankey uses that I use too. HOWEVER I use some of my own stuff. If you consider me a "Line Thief" then I think we all are. My wit is also dry and kinda corny too (my OWN stuff), and I play it by ear as well. ANYWAY Bill is funny. As a Technician he is extremely great, and versatile. Like I said.....BUY HIS DVD SET !!! Ed, (Eddini).

And A Different look at Christ’s aces - both are worth the price of a DVD and they are in my teach in theater - step by step instruction for free. Plus other routines. Details at my web site below!
