Hi Tim, Jay Wethington (that's me!) is at "The Rose and Crown Pub" located in the UK Pavilion which is in the EPCOT park. I'm there Friday evening's from 4:30 until 9:30pm. There are a couple of new magic acts out on the Boardwalk now. Don't know any of them but they can't be bad!
Cheers, Jay |

Thanks everyone for your comments about my show. The show is going extremely strong and we will be celebrating eight years in business on June 12th. We've won awards and have received accolades from the paying public but the magic world by and large has ignored us. We've entertained stars from the music industry, actors, politicians and more. We've been voted the "best" and the "funniest" dinner show by real people in the newspaper and television media in one of the top tourist destinations in the world, yet the magic magazines don't even include us in their "Who's Where" lists.
Maybe eight years with shows seven nights a week isn't long enough to be considered stable... I just posted a question about that on another thread (I guess I should have used the search function first). Maybe I got the directions off MapQuest wrong, but the last time I visited that location (820 LAKE BALDWIN LANE , Orlando, FL) when I was in the area the building was locked up and it appeared to be abandoned . I tried looking in the little window in the main door but couldn't see any evidence of a shop in there . Looked empty. This was in late July '08 . I visited around 1:00 in the afternoon, prime time for a business to be open. No sign on the building identifying the location as Pizzazz Theatrical or Backstage Magic, but there was a small sign taped to the door saying that Pizzazz Theatrical would be opening in that location in June '08 . Phone number for Pizzazz Theatrical doesn't work and emails to both Pizzazz and Backstage Magic are not answered . So, are they still in business ? I don't want to waste my time driving over there again next time I'm in the area. Thanks for any info. |

Unfortunately they have closed. I got word of it on Monday. It's sad to see a business that had been around for 30 some years to go under.

Thanks for the clarification.
Sorry to hear about them shutting down . Oddly enough both companies Pizzazz and Backstage still have their websites up , but no phone and not answering emails. I guess their shutting down must have just happened within the last month or so ... It looks like from their website that maybe Backstage is trying to continue on as a mail-order web-based store only (?) . Odd though that they don't answer email if that's the case. I guess it's getting harder and harder to maintain a "brick and mortar" magic shop with a real world location. |

The family and I plan to visit Disney Jan 29 - Feb 2. I think I remember reading that Jay Wethington has moved on from the Rose and Crown. If true, has someone replaced him? Does anyone know the hours that they have a magician performing(hopefully more than just Fri night as I will arrive late)?
Thanks. |

Ahh sorry this post was late...there is no magician in the Rose and Crown anymore. There are magicians out on the Boardwalk (3 including myself Jay Wethington) and Terry Ward performs over in the Studios...

Yes...I found out first hand there's no pub magician at the Rose and Crown...just the Hat Lady. Disappointing.
I was on the Boardwalk twice, but both times too late to see anyone perform. I'll look out for you next time, Jay. Didn't know about Terry Ward at Hollywood Studios. We were there twice...I need to research this better next time. Cheers |
