I'm suprised I haven't seen those in Mr. Palmer's collection. Does he not have these or did I just miss them somehow?

Bill has the 'Black Pearl' cups on his 'Regular cups' page.

Richard

Um........just kidding. haha. (I guess I just don't remember seeing them. After all, it's hard to memorize his entire collection).

The reason I had not responded earlier is that I was in Europe while this post was going on.

There is only ONE set that has the presentation case and the wand. I own it. It is now in the cups and balls museum.

Now, why would anybody purchase a set of cups that are not likely to ever be used for a performance?

Well, for one thing, I can.

For another, it has already gotten me some convention bookings. "Bill, please come to our convention, and, by the way, Bill, do bring the Victory Cups."

Whatever floats your boat. (little pun there!!!)

How do I justify them? I don't need to.

notice that the lid of the box was made from the outer bark of the tree. If it was made from wood from the ship how would they get the bark from the tree.

That's not bark. That's what the wood looked like before it was planed down to usable stock for the boxes.

Now I wonder what will be done with the "Victory Sawdust"

That's right. The rough part was the outer layer of the timber that Colin purchased.

I will tell Colin he needs to use it to pack some "Victory Balls."

BTW, the work the man does is absolutely phenomenal. He had a ball and vase for sale at the Centenary that was made using ostrich eggs -- real, genyouwyne ostrich eggs. It was £5,000.00. It was about 3 feet tall altogether.

BTW, the Victory Cups were a gift from my wife to me on my birthday.

Are the "African Queen" cups made from the boat the Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn used?

No. They are made from ... oh, never mind. It would just be deleted. Smile

I agree! I love some of the things in the Victorian section. The spiral carved wand is absolutly fabulous.

The man does know his stuff. And he is very modest. I wish I could do that kind of work.
