Hi All,
I´ve always been ineterested in grand illusions ( theory and design) and I´ve read some books on this subject ( mainly from Steinmeyer and Osborne). I am looking for a list of tapes/dvds of performances only of stage magicians ( Henning, Burton, Wilson, Copperfield amd so on) I guess that it would be very helpful for me to see grand illusions performed by different magicians around the world and see all the theories studied finally applied. Thanks in advance to all the friends in the forum who would like to share the list and some suggestions. Please PM if interested in selling and/or trading videos or dvds on this subject. Thanks/Fabio |

Mark Wilson has some tapes of his Magic Circus for sale in his website. Try looking into amazon.com for dvds of Burton, Copperfield, Siegfried and Roy etc...

There are actually a lot of things available - especially if you are looking for the big names (Copperfield, Henning, Burton, etc.) Just start searching online at ebay, Amazon, Google and you will find a lot. Here is a link to get you started . . .

I wouldn't think of selling or trading any of my magical "treasures." Of course when I die, it will all end up on the curb and I hope some enterprising kid bitten by the magic bug finds it first and carts it all away. That said, you should look up some of the golden oldies- vintage footage of Blackstone Senior, Jack Gwynne, Houdini, UF Grant and others. You'll have to buy them from Amazon.com or someplace like that, though. I wouldn't part with mine for all the gold in Gringott's bank.

For some reason the Copperfield specials are not available individually on video or DVD, only the Illusion DVD which is like a compilation. I´m not sure if they ever were, but I doubt it. I´m sure there would be a good market for them. There are videos from other magicians available. One particular good one was published by PBS Television as a two part special in the mid 90´s called The History of Magic. Among some notables incuded were The Pendragons and Harry Blackstone Jr. Still I think it´s easier to trade with individuals privately

You could join SAM as an associate member and get acess to their video library. You can do it all online I believe. The library has converted most stuff to dvd which wouldn't have a problem with the PAL/NTSC?SECAM thing. You'll find all the Copperfield and Henning you could ever want there plus performances of many magicians of old. Rental is between $10-$15 per tape/disc.
Or you could try some of the magic related Yahoo groups and see if anyone would be interested in trading for anything you might have. Being form Italy, you might have some tv footage that's unavailable to people in the US/UK. Best of luck Matt |
