Thanks all. I think it was Lignum Vitae. I was looking for. Altho I have also bin told that it might have bin Rowen.
Till I can find some Lignum Vitae, I have just goten a wand of African purple heart, styled after Prof. Snape. I normaly don't use a wand but I am learning Quickly how mutch fun thay can be.

A good place to look for and hold exotic woods without having to order sight unseen is a knife making/cutlery type store. There are usually one or more around larger cities. Basically, you want a store that sales knife making supplies. Longer pieces might be hard to find. There used to be a great one in the Houston (North Beltway 8) Area.
