Did anyone else see Marc Salem on Richard and Judy? A few hiccups due to Judy not having her reading glasses on (was struggling with the book test!), but all in all a good performance. He did a couple of other good pieces as well.
Anyone else catch it and have any thoughts?

Blast, missed it. Not a great fan of R & J but I would have made an exception for Marc Salem.

Is Richard & Judy a show in the UK? What did Salem do on the show?

I saw it.First time of seeing marc Salem,he's got a very different approach than Derren Brown-although still goes down the psychological route. He did a drawing divination with 5 people with a little reading on each, handing back drawings. With R&J he did Hoy booktest and a Key Rect effect with Richard handcuffed!! Both were suitably amazed!!

If he can fool Richard and Judy he must be awesome or something . Although Richard was locked in an isolated booth with a lifesize impression of himself and Derren Brown controlling a temporal distortion matrix brainwash technique but I am sure it didn't have any effect on his razor like discrimination .
I hear he Mr, Salem has been asked to handcuff and gag them both by popular demand for the rest of the shows run. Though that may be purely for ratings. |

Yeah, I thought he did a very good job indeed. I shall be trying to get down to see his show for sure. which means of course that his publicity on the show worked.

I would be interested in a review. Last year he performed at the Tricycle and I couldn't book. The review from either the Guardian or Observer rather panned him. Apparently he lost it with some school children in the audience as I remember.

Ditto on what Bartlewizard has said. Run don't walk to his show if you can. You will get countless lessons in audience management, routining, presentation and overall entertainment value.
He is one of a few that make me say, "Wow, now that's the way you do it!" Greg

I saw his performance at Magic Circle Centenary thingy on Friday and was impressed.I will be writing a review and will post a link when done.First time I have seen his show and he fooled me in places, specially on the blindfold routine! He's bigger than Derren Brown but you wouldnt know it!

He also performed again with Richard & Emma Bunton from the spice girls. Did Haunted key, a very poor version I felt of his signature effect"liar" with three pieces of card on Emma bunton asking her to write down something she ate yesterday and two things she did not eat. He had a 3/1 chance of just "guessing" it anyway. Did a watch prediction on Richard Madely in which he asked richard to set a time on his watch without looking, and then produced a wallet with a card inside with a written prediction. It was let down by rubbish editing as you could not see Marc why Richard was setting the watch and the wallet was off camera .

I found his humour to be a bit cliche...nothing very original in presentation.I dislike the fact people jump on others for claiming supernatural powers but when another claims his using psychological sociological means to acheive his effects there is no sign of the these "critics"...though to be fair I don't care either ways as I don't think anyone has the right to talk out against self expression once its creative
I wish him the best,He packs out all over so his doing something right! To me he seems limited as a showman(clips I've seen) not seen a live show so Im open to being corrected, though to pack out venues dosent always mean you must have an outstanding show.Fair play to him,I admire the man and his success! So as for "original" his work would look more so if so many had not copied his lines and routines. And as for authenticity regarding his Psychological background his training and resume are among the best. He has more than written the book, he has also had one of the longest running columns in Men's health magazine. Do a bit of research before you bash one of the pillar of mentalism s whose work actually helps the rest of the "mentalists to look both good and viable. In NYC he is as well known as Derren Brown is in London. Julian |

Marc is a real showman, I have had the pleasure of seeing his theatre shows time and time again.. He knows his stuff and is a very kind man, last year we travelled for a good two hours to see Peter Nardi, during the road trip there Marc more than tipped some of his thinking, approaches and thoughts to me..
A highly recommend seeing him live, he has been on the stage doing what he does at a time when some of us were still doing dizzy dots.. Good thoughts MS
It's not goodbye, just see you later...
