Hi Everyone,
I have the complete 4 volumes of Apocalypse and I'm still working my way through them...and will probably be doing so for quite some time. I got the impression (I don't remember where) that The Pallbearer's Review was also a treasure of information for magicians. I got ahold of the first book which has volumes 1-4 and quite frankly, I'm a bit disappointed. I've made it about 2/3 the way through the book and found only one trick that I might use. On the other hand, I've been very pleased with the Apocalypse books. I'm just curious how other feel about these two sets of books. Maybe the Pallbearer's Review would get better (at least for me) in the subsequent books? My interest is primarily close-up, non-card magic...but make exceptions for certain card tricks. In looking over the postings in The Magic Café for favorite books, I have seen Apocalypse listed frequently but never The Pallbearer's Review. Maybe for someone else, the Pallbearer's Review would be a "must have" for someone else. I'm curious to hear your impressions. Thanks to all, Bob L. |

Bob,
I agree with you the Pallbearers Review does not contain the wealth of information found in Apocalypse. The one thing I found is that Pallbearers Review contains more knucklebusting effects than Apocalypse, which I myself personally do not care for. I am more in to sublety than sleights so this may be the reason I like Apocalypse better. I have all 4 Apocalypse and the 3 Pallbearers as well as Epilogue which is also a Fulves publication.Karl Fulves came out with many books that contain "easier" magic which are among my favorites.I recently purchased Effortless Card Magic by Peter Duffie which is really becoming a favorite.. The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

You may enjoy Epilogue better if you prefered Apocalypse over Pallbearer's. The Collected Almanac is also fantastic and is quite similar to Apocalypse in my opinion.
