If a link doesn't work in a post, it's sometimes because the poster accidentally put an extra period on it, because it was also the end of a sentence. Edit the web address in your browser address line, to remove the period at the end of .com , then re-submit it to your internet browser. However, sometimes the problem is a typo somewhere else in the URL. In this case, it's both! (Sorry, Skip! You still win a cookie for good effort! Ha! ) Here is the actual link, corrected: http://www.wonderimagery.com/ - Donald

Since I am no professional I just hang a black sheet. No one even knows the difference but that's me the sheet is mounted to a ply wood board.

Don't forget the old stand-by.... Ebay! We just picked up a backdrop stand (cloth not included) for $52.00 including shipping! We thought this was a really decent price as it was brand new and all the comparable ones we were looking at were a couple of hundred dollars.
Just a suggestion.... |

Magic Inc sells a book called "The super show". You should have it for many reasons, but the Trimble Backdrop screen is a good one. Use foam core rather than cardboard.
Then again, Karrell Fox used an Abbotts Jet set with the giant Rice Rabbit in the Hat Silk. Looked great. If you had two, you could have them on each side with the rabbits looking at you ad you perform..... |

A jet set is a great backdrop to use indoors for a small area or where you may not have a lot of room. It packs down very small and looks good as well. Easy to travel with and easy to carry into and out of the show. Just be careful if you plan on doing anything outdoors with it as it is a center stand design. It does not have the best overall balance that some of the other backdrops have.

Thanks for the great info. I was going to get the 'Jet Set' until I read this thread. For just a few dollars more you can get a lot more backdrop.
Thanks again!

The jet sets are not tall enough. The backdrop I use folds down even smaller that the jet set stands. I saw a show a few months ago and they had 4 jet sets across the back. I looked really bad! They were not level nor tall enough. I think this is still the best bet and cheaper than the jet set.
P.S. I have a jet set.

There are other posts on this do a search. But look on ebay for trade show displays. All you want is the framework.

I use a lighting tripod which has a "T" bar on top. I bought mine on eBay and these are easily found there (<$50.) The T-bar is only about 4', so I slide a 3.5' PVC pipe on each end which effortlessly extends my width to 8'. This is very study indoors and presents well. I use exhibit drapes which are very inexpensive and readily avialble. The whole thing fits in a small bag and sets up in 1-2 minutes. I can also add another unit for a wider stage.

http://www.onewaystreet.com and http://www.puppetproduction.com are bot puppet companies, but they sell puppet stages. You can buy their tripods seperately for about $35 each. I use them with puppets and they are great.

On the basis of Flourish Dude's enthusiasm, I ordered one of the backdrop frameworks that he recommends so persistently. It just arrived yesterday. It is really, really nice and I am a very happy camper. I will let everyone know how it works in the field this month.
Thanks big time Flourish Dude! I don't know what I would do without the Magic Café, there are so many good ideas and helpful people here. Yours, Paul |

Do you have to back the crushed panne with another material or is it thick enough with out a backing?
