Over the years I have met two ex-asssistants. One had assisted Houdini and the other John Calvert. Is there anybody that keeps track of the assistants of the past masters? I would love to read or hear about what they did. The Houdini assistant eventually ended up doing cement contracting in the Los Angeles area and the John Calvert assistant owned a bicycle shop across the street from the University of California in Riverside in the early 70's.

Stevem,
Chappell, Siegfried & Roys' number one assistant, started with John Calvert while touring his show overseas. John is not only a pastmaster he is very much a present master. He just returned from England to celebrate his 94th birthday this week. Eddy Lester

My understanding is that there is a new book in the making about this. My wife was contacted about a year ago and about a hundred interviews had already been done.
By the way, you certainly don't want to Indian wrestle with John Calvert! He just gets better! Bob Magic By Sander |
