I was reading the old Huggard Encylopedia of Card Magic book and he said that Bicycle Rider Backs have a little white dot at the end of a curl at one top left corner. I didn't see it. Am I missing it, or did they changed the design since the publishing of the book?

This was brought up several times, the last being a couple of weeks ago...try a search, you'll find some useful info.
The back design of riders has changed since the time of the publication of your source material.

They're one-way if the back design is printed off-center, creating a slightly larger margin on one end (and a smaller margin on the other end.) I believe Max Maven laments about this fact in his VideoMind series.

Fred is right. Since I have never ever seen a back design that was completly centered I would say that this property would be a great one way feature.
PS. The day I see a centered back design with Bicyle Playing Cards I will stop doing magic. lol |

I happend to open up a new deck of bikes just the other day and was amazed that they were centered. The world must be coming to an end.

You guy give those bikes such a hard time. I honestly, after a good 200-300 decks have et to notice any major off-centerdness (?). There have been a few, but very far between.
In an ironic flip side, I noticed that my first deck of Tally's is a bit off-center. It is only slightly more centered than my worst deck of bikes. Hmmm.

Back to the original question. Generally speaking, Bikes are not one-way cards!

Bicycle cards these days are one way cards. The nature of the printing means that one of the borders are alays thinner than the other. This of course is accidental, but still, it works. Fother Roger Crosswaite and Justin Highman have an effect in their book using this principle. The only downside is that the system when applied this way is difficult to spot.

Lmao
ah how much we love USPCC, but then again, we can see this as them trying to create one way decks that no one notices except for us magicians muhahahaha |

I like finding Bicycle decks which are severly off center for special purposes which require a one-way deck. In fact, Max Maven on one of his VideoMind vides uses a off-center printed Bicycle deck in a routine which requires a one-way deck. The possibility does exhist but generally standard Bicycle decks are not one-way.

If you can find one of those "rare" (lol) un-centered decks, you can take one of those cards, and put it into a better centered deck... a key card if you will. its visible when you riffle through... it will blink

I say it again, if you get a well-cut Bicycle deck (the way they ought to be), they are not one-way cards. This was the original question and this is the answer.

I beg to differ with marco. Even without the misalignment problem, Bicycles are one way.
PM me if you are interested. |

I have also read that they are oneway, and I'm NOT talking about misprinting/cutting, but as was said earlier, the back-design has changed since my sources were printed.
