Confession time. For those who like ketchup on mashed potatoes, I have a family member who has you beat.
This member of my family likes...enjoys....RELISHES....are you ready? OK, her it comes... MUSTARD ON PANCAKES!!!! Whenever we go to a "Pancake festival" she can be spotted in a crowd, because she is the only one armed with her own personal bottle of mustard. (They usually only provide syrup and butter at these festivals, because this is what normal people eat on ther pancakes. Not a drop of mustard can be found. What are some unusual food combinations that you have run into ?

I got that one beat. I had a cousin who liked ketchup on and in everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.
Here are a few of her tasty combinations: On rice, in any soup, on bread to make a ketchup sandwich and nothing else, and now for the two winning combos... hold on to your gag reflex... in milk and on ice cream.... yes, you read that right. Greg

You think it reads bad... try being at a dinner and actually watching it happen. By the way, I mentioned what I believed was the weirdest mixtures... she did it on EVERYTHING and even ate ketchup right out of the bottle. She did that right up into her early teens... I haven't seen her for decades so I'm hoping she grew out of it... for the sake of her husband or close friends.

I see a Gahan Wilson cartoon called "Nuts" where the little kid was left on his own for the first time. He makes himself a snack; "Funny, when I added the grape jelly, it all turned green." Actually tries to eat it; "Sad thing is, I used all the marshmellows." And the next to last panel is him sitting in the living room; "Maybe if I just sit here quietly, I won't throw up!"

I remember Dagwood making a sandwich and eating it with very loud crunching. Blondie walks in and looks at him and he says, "Ice cube sandwiches are not bad if you put plenty of ketchup on them."

Get yourself some GrapeNuts and use orange juice instead of milk. Now that's some good breakfast!

I know someone else who has a strong regard for jelly on a ham and cheese sandwich....

Well, I know it is normal for some people, but I got a shock when I was in Baltimore where they put vinegar on their french fries.
Out here in rural MN, we put it where it belongs...ON HEADCHEESE!! |
