I’m in search of folding hand fans like the one pictured below. The ideal size would be 20-30” wide when open and not the 15” size commonly found. It would also be nice if the fans were made of fabric and not paper. But paper will do if nothing else found.

I’ve only come across the 15” variety online, at oriental, and dollar stores.

Anything over 30” span would be too big.

I have bought several similar ones for myself and friends at Asian shops in Boston. They range in price from $10 to $20 dollars. The ones I use for snowstorms have black plastic ribs and an Oriental design on cloth. They're called Kung-Fu fans and come in a variety of cloth colors (Red, Yellow, Blue, Black etc). The one in your photo looks like Bamboo and Paper, I'm not sure if they have these. The ones I get look exactly like the one in this link http://www.wle.com/products/b307.html If you don't have any Asian shops around let me know I'd be happy to pick one up for you.

If you are looking for the Kung Fu fans. See http://www.stevensmagic.com

These come in 2 sizes, the small is hard to find, Lair may have some. The large is more common for dealer to carry, such as stevens magic.

Yep, that's the size I'm looking for. Just the right size!

Larry mentioned the martial arts online store and they also offer a 22.5" size that is ideal. It's fabric too!

Didn't see any listed on the Stevens link. The Oriental stores I frequent have an abundance of both sizes at very reasonable prices.

If you hit Chinatown or import stores you could get lucky. At worse, you would have to recover them.

I just saw Michael at Abbott's and he had two or three different fans there. Drop him a line and I am sure he would help you out.

U.S. Toys sells several styles by the dozen including what you're looking for. I did an outdoor kids show and produced a couple dozen compact folding fans (~$3.50/doz.) from a double load Dove Pan. On a hot day the adults want them as much as the kids. Good patter can make sense of the fire in the pan turning to fans.
