Where does a magician who performs routines such as cups and balls, matrix, some card effects, and so on perform? I am not referring to table hopping, but performing seated as a close-up magician (and get paid). Are there venues that are made for close-up?

If you're over 21, college-town bars and rock concerts are a good bet. Sometimes, private breweries will hire you sit-down table magic. Quite often, beer and cigarette distributors will hire magicians to draw and entertain crowds while promoting their products. I've worked for Ice House and Camel in both venues.

Countage,
I would love to hear about your experiences performing seated in the coffee shope venue...was it a formal show? How long? What was the set up like...etc.. Thanks! Mark |
