I can tell it's a double card from experience. I have many years in the manufacture of cards and props so if I say I can tell it's a double card I can!!!
If you pay attention to a lot of these demo videos, you can save yourself some money and work the thing out for yourself. I know it's not a demo for an effect just a performance but I have the right to my say what I know sorry to expose your method but it's not as if it's for sale right! The reason I said save your money was that somebody mentioned about paying a lot of cash for the method so I said save your money. I have already improved the torn effect handling myself, and should be releasing a dvd soon. Look out for it please. |

Dan,
I appreciate your passion, but with all due respect, you are way off base here. As one privy to the workings of Bits & Pieces, as well as one of the 3 (Gared, Glenn, and myself) who developed the principle, independantly, I might add, there are simply NO double cards involved. I assure you this. In fact, I swear on all that is sacred to me that no double thicknesses are in play in this routine at any point. While you may have discovered (inadvertently) a promising method, you have not discovered the method behind B&P. Sean |

Wow... well for someone releasing a DVD, I can say 100% I will not buy it, but I'll figure it out and then steal it.
Also, you are right it is easy to figure out from the demo, but you are wrong with double thickness. |

I would have to agree. As for Torn, the idea and concept is from Ripped and Restored from Yves Dominique. Garcia like it but wasnt keen on the handling of the restorations. He used the R & R ripping sequence, but changed thew restorations. I don't see how you can offer something different when there are 2 versions already along the same line. Many people argued against Garcias version as it was almost identical to R & R. But he has made it his own and it is now the preferred T & R. Plus, Dan Garcia actaully already has a name in magic, having 5 DVDs, 3 Tricks and 2 books that are all highly rated. He is also supported by Paul Harris. IMO, I don't think if you bought a DVD out as a version of TOrn Mr.Bivaldi that it will sell very well

Some time ago Steve Dusheck published a book on card magic. In that book is a remarkable torn and restored which if put on video would probably knock the socks off all who did not recognize it. Those who wish to read a bit can find it in his book on Card Magic, published 1992 on page 80.
Lance, that webpage with the small movie looks good, bravo! * see his signature for the URL

This has still be in my head ever since I firt saw it. I remember first seeing it when it first came out on MVD I think at the end of 2004. In every creators mind, when they try to conceive a new idea, they try all sorts of different ideas. Or, they are inspired by something they have seen. And it seems all ideas for this plot have stemmed from the very first Torn and Restored. I cannot say exactly who was the first person to create the T & R card effect. I think it was JC Wagnerm but I could be wrong. Then Copperfield just took all other versions to the extreme with Kenners version Torn Asunder. Now Gared Crawford has done it again, with Bits and Pieces,a dn it has inspired me. I would love to be able to do magic that looked as clean as that. No one can deny that if yo ripped a card up and put it back together, that it would look like this. In this thread, it has been discussed of a prepared card, or duplicates, or various other ideas. And I'm sure, as all magicians do when they see a trick, try to come up with a logical method, and I think the question a lot of people asked is, how is it possible. They think in their, especially if they have a knowledge of T & Rs, what gimmikc or gaff must have been used. And that is what I have been asking yself. Is it an interior gimmick, i.e. a self contained gimmicked card, or an exterior gimmick, and that is the hard part to tell. To everyone who has seen this, good luck and hope it still baffles you as it does me

Sorry to dig up an old thread...
But I just stumbled across this one. And as a massive T&R fan - I am curious if there are any videos of 'Bits n Pieces' by Gared Crawford available online? Also - does anyone know if this trick will ever get released? Thanks! Joe |

Very confused.Just 2-3 years ago Gared posted the trailer for his Bit's n' Pieces DVD on his youtube channel. Looked very professioanlly done, boasting of 3 hours of material, etc. Now here we are in June of 2020 with no word of it at all. What's going on? Can any of you previous posters on this thread who know Gared and the project give an updated comment? Just doesn't make sense that He seems to have gone silent at this point. Thanks. Here's the link to the DVD Trailer... https://youtu.be/bwymx--Np8M

I had the pleasure of watching a Tommy Wonder lecture many, many years ago. He closed with a TR routine that had everyone's jaw hit the floor. It looked amazing. Then when he revealed the method he used double stick tape through out the routine. This let all the air out of the room. He stated everyone thought it was amazing until they found out the method. He was trying to prove a point.
