Both are good. One the children relate to as a live person or animal, the other gets them screaming at you for the drawing comes alive!

Den is absolutely right. The drawing board has a versatlity because you can draw any charcter to come alive and is limited to your imagination. But the vent puppet can also be as versital because of the events or situations that that characater has encountered. These too can be only limited to ones imagination. So in the end it is really up to the performer and his/her style and what audince they are performing for. Good luck in your endeavor. chuck Lyons

I simply LOVE the drawing board fopr the versatility that it gives to me as a performer. As stated above, the drawing board allows me much more creativity in my presentations and I can customize every show towards the client or company I am working for.
I am an artist and a designer, so for me, this is most ideal. I often times will draw the b-day child and have him come to life to introduce my wife and I at the start of the show. I can draw a bunny for easter, Santa or an elf for X-mas or a jackolantern for Halloween. The ideas and creativity are endless if you think about it. You also do not have to be a great ventriloquist at all. Trust me I am not one and the kids and audiences still love it all the same because this drawing has come to life right before them. You can also set up a voice over on tape or on an iPod (like I do) and then set up different patter for different shows. Then you do not have to worry about it. Your voice over is on the tape or cd etc. and you can just move the mouth accordingly and have a lot of fun with it. Just make sure you do not let your board get cold. If you do, it becomes very very hard to erase. I have learned from experience. =) Kyle

Why would you think doing a vent routine & using the Axtell drawing board prop are mutually exclusive?
