I am trying out Bill Tarr's version of the 5-Card Trick. It seems that the secret move as described needs something extra, or it just gets sloppy. Does anyone have any advice?
I am on enforced bed rest for the weekend, and I'm spending the time learning new stuff. This is my chance to get this move down. Thanks! |

Yes. The effect is that the magi holds a packet of cards in his left hand. He counts them out for the audience - there are 5. He plucks three cards out of the packet one at a time and throws them away, yet another count reveals there are still 5 cards.
This effect utilizes a basic move, but I think there is a detail missing in the book. The move as described leaves something to be desired, and leaves things looking sloppy. I am being vague to somewhat guard the secret, I don't want to get bounced, but I could use some hints. Thanks! Dean Okay, no other posts necessary. I didn't explain the effect, because only a person who knows Tarr's book could answer anyway. The move is known elsewhere as the Buckle Count, and there is something missing from Tarr's description. I've got it now, so I'm all set. |
