If you're looking for lithographs (not actual photographic prints), ABC Pictures is the place to go: http://www.abcpictures.com

Lithographs are great to sell at shows or to pass out without concern of cost. They're not very expensive. If you're needing headshot for ads, newspaper articles, etc. then you'll want to go with real photos. The link Lyndel gave looks like a pretty good deal for real photos.

Thanks guys. The two sources noted actually print the photos using offset printing or some sort of dot pattern (ala laser print). I am looking for a photo printer. Any ideas?

Have you contacted Starshots to make sure of that? The way I read their section on headshots, I'm pretty sure that Starshots is doing actual photos. Obviously, I may be wrong.

Yeah I called them. They are using a high end color laser. So in essence its continuous tone as opposed to a dot screen, but still not as good as photographic repro. (I'm a graphic designer by day so I have experience in this area) Still looking...

I just discovered http://www.precisionphotos.com
They reproduce photos photographically and therefore are perfect for headshots. They are fairly reasonable in price but best of all they have an online ordering system where you can upload your photo (assuming you have it in digital format) and see the results immediately. Very cool.

Another thing to keep in mind is to keep your photos and 8 by tens current. A lot of timers people use the same 8 by 10's even if their image or their show changes. You need to always make sure that the image reflects both your look as well as sells you and your show the best that it can.

I would also be intersted in knowing of your experience with this company should you decide to use them. One thing you may want to do is to ask for printed samples of their work. I do this for any client I design stuff for or for any printer I use with my design work. The theory goes that just like not every magician is the same, every printer's quality is not the same either. It is in your best interest to always ask for samples up front so you know what quality to expect and there is no surprises to you. Hope this helps.

Got my photos back from precisionphoto.com and I have to say that I am very impressed. The whole process was very easy and only took a week from when I ordered to delivery. I would highly recommend them, but keep in mind, they are only as good as the original photo you send.
