Hi everyone! I am looking to create an effect where a spectator opens a telephone book to any page and places their finger on any phone number and a previously made prediction matches. Of course, that is only the EFFECT I want to create. It doesn't necessarily need to be THAT clean. I only want to avoid anything that looks "mathematical" like rolling dice or adding up 3 birthdates and divinding by 180 come to a page # or the like. Please PM me with any help or suggestions.

Steve Fearson has an effect "Mental Directory" that is close to that on his "Party Tricks" tape.

Banacheks DVD series has a nice clean effect that would fill the criteria nicely.

I have performed an effect of this nature. Yes it is possible. The book may be any phone book, the prediction written as large as one wishes on a dry erase board set in full view, and the phone book never has to be touched by the performer.

Check the routine "one in a half million" in Theater of the mind page 10
You can also use a nail writer, a blank cardboard prediction in an enveloppe with a hole. You just put youself the phone number selected! |

Do some research on an effect called Ace Revisted. It's done with an ordinary dictionary, but the principles could be applied to a phone book.

One number from millions yet the performer proves he predicted it in advance." |
