Hello,
I have been using the old standard gimmick for over 20 years and want to know if there is a better gimmick out there. I am aware of a two-finger gimmick but which one is the best. Ray Noble |

There are so many out there, it's crazy. The two finger one is good if your ball is too heavy or your finger too weak. If the one finger kind works for you though, there's not much point in it. It's just added metal
A curved gimmick is a common modification. I like it myself, but go between the two depending on my needs. There are others that allow flames, move the ball back and forth or carry electricity. Lazander has a modified gimmick which makes one move very pretty, but savagly limits the other moves you can do. Most is just a matter of trial and error. PM me if you want any details on the ones I know about. BTW, the Don Wayne dancing hank also might be consider a highly modified Zombie gimmick, but wouldn't work for a Zombie. Sable
I don't believe in reincarnation, but I may have in another life.

I still love some of the gimmicks created by General Grant. He has a lot of knowledge on them and on the entire Zombie efect as a whole and he has never steered me wrong. If he does not have what you need or what he feels will work for you, then he will help you in finding what suits you the best for your performance and style.

My first choice is the two-finger one with a plate instead of coils. It is a matter of positive control. At some points even the heel of your hand can add to the show and you can let your fingers show unencumbered.
I'll also have to agree that virtually everyone bends the arm to please them better. Just a little note from an old man magician: keep an extra black bootlace around to cover the shaft when life makes modifications that shine. Make sure not to hang it on the surface of the Zombie Cloth and give the method away. (Another reason for a "personal" curve.) Bob Magic By Sander |
