Build one, that is what I did, and trust me it is easier than it looks. Buy a frame, a tray stand a close up pad (big one), and just work around the rest.
You know you are a magician when you have boxes full of lecture notes you have never read, but still are excited about going out and buying more.

I'm with Gideon on this one. A short trip to Home Depot, a trip to the restaurant supply store, and the fabric store and you are in business. I prefer car upholstery fabric over a close up mat just thumb tacked to the plywood. Lay the frame over that and bingo, you are good to go.

I also have to agree with the others you can spend up to 1000 dollars for a table but build one yourself for like 30-50 bucks that is peronalized to you.

I make mine from old frames, tow thin sheets of ply wood. One I have cut to the insert of the frame this one I rap my choosing fabric around the next sheet is cut to the same size of the outer edge of the frame. A bit of glue a few tacks and full house.

Hi, this is my magic table I build it by my own. Maybe you can find it interesting here are some photos:
http://www.imaybestupid.com/stuff/magictable/ As you can see I designed it for kids show mainly, but I also use it in street. You can keep your props there and use it as a bag, then open it and use as a table. That's easy to do if you have any question just ask! Luca |

I usually use a small Lefler Pro table with one of these on top
http://www.theambitiouscard.com/tables/index.cfm I'm having one more made with a velvet/fleece-padded top but the photo is a much busker-esque suede covered, firm padded top for durability. it's not meant as a close-up surface for cards and coins but it's exceptional for cups and balls, shells, setting drinks on, etc. if you're making one for busking, you might consider padding it with fleece and covering it with suede. I love it

How will you incorporate the ACR and Biddle Tricks, both fairly close-up effects in and around larger group effects like the rings and cups. Are you going to try for a larger crowd or for a handful of people?

Rip a piece of paneling off a junked moble home.
Lay a piece of auto headliner remnant from a fabric store or top shop on it. Frame the whole thing inside a metal poster frame from a yard sale. Set it on a keyboard stand from a yard sale or a waiters stand from a (used) resturant supply store. Worked for me.

There is a new TV tray stand that is being advertised on television fairly inexpensively. It folds and adjusts to various angles. I could easily imagine using it as a framework for a performing table. It will support 50 pounds.
So they say.

They are the standard tv table height of 25" high it looks like. Perfect for the magician who likes to work on his knees.

These are adjustable height tables. But it doesn't say anywhere on their web site how high they will adjust. Judging by the arm of the sofa, they might be about 30 inches tall. For 2 for $30, it's not a bad deal, though.
